Another long and emotional meeting for the Reno City Council, as they vote to move ahead with the demolition of two motels in the heart of the downtown district.

Governor Brian Sandoval is visiting China, and has another foreign trade mission planned.

Supporters of School Choice are happy the State Supreme Court rejected a delay, and consolidated the challenges against the Education Savings Accounts. They will be heard starting July 29th. Coco Janus of the Nevada Partnership for School Choice says the thousands of parents who applied for funds, and continue to apply, need a decision before the next school year. Janus is part of the outreach to minority communities, to make sure they're informed about the available choices.

A pickup truck carrying a load of hay that caught fire shortly after 5:00 yesterday afternoon is being blamed for a brush fire near US 395 at Red Rock Blvd. The fire grew to be about 5 acres, crews got a line around the fire in about 20 minutes. 2 dozen home were threatened but none had to be evacuated. No injuries were reported. Northbound 395 was briefly closed during the attack on the fire; southbound lanes remained open. The cause of the truck fire that started the brush fire is under investigation.
