Reno Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Yori Avenue over the weekend. Police say they responded to the 2600 block of Yori Avenue near Kietzke Lane around 8:05 p.m. Sunday, after getting reports of a shooting. According to police, witnesses say a fight broke out between two people, then gunshots followed. When police arrived they found of person wounded. Medical personnel also responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. Police have determined that the shooting was gang related. The investigation is on-going. Secret Witness is offering a reward in the amount of $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s).

Carson City Sheriff's detectives have now arrested both men accused of robbing the clerk at an auto parts store. Shortly after 10PM June 27th deputies were called to O'Reilly Auto Parts on North Carson Street, after two men robbed the clerk at gunpoint, then left the store with cash in a dark SUV with large chrome rims. Working through tips, 34-year-old Anthony Michael Melendrez was arrested in Sparks the night of June 29. Detectives say 31-year-old Jermaine Jordan, a former employee at a different O'Reilly's store, turned himself in.

Bureau of Land Management officials say A fire burning on the border of Elko and Humboldt counties has reached 122-thousand acres. Firefighters believe a lightning strike started the Hot Pot fire around 3:00 Saturday afternoon. It is burning in a mix of federal and private land in both Elko and Humboldt counties north of Battle Mountain. There are about 350 fire personnel on scene. The fire is five percent contained at this time and full containment is expected on Thursday.

Sparks Police believe the same man tried to rob two different stores this afternoon. The man pulled a knife on loss prevention personnel at the Target store at the Legends at about 2:00 this (Monday) afternoon, and about two hours later did the same thing at the K-Mart on Oddie Boulevard. In both incidents the suspect ran into a nearby apartment complex and escaped. The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, wearing a black t-shirt, goatee and dark sunglasses. He's about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, and there are numerous tattoos on his left arm.

Reno Police and the Regional Gang Unit responded to the 2600 block of Yori Avenue at around 8 p.m. last night on a call of shots fired. According to witnesses, a fight between two groups led to gunfire. Officers located one victim who died at the scene. Police say they believe the shooting is gang related.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the decedent from the July 3rd, Officer Involved Shooting incident in downtown Reno as Raul Saavedra-Vargas. He's the man who tried to drive his van through the pedestrian area at the downtown "Wing Fest," and was shot to death by Reno Police. No civilians or officers were injured during the incident. In accordance with the Regional Officer Involved Shooting protocol, a team comprised of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Sparks Police Department, Reno Police Department, and Washoe County District Attorney's Office is conducting a joint investigation into the shooting. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office or Secret Witness.

The 4th of July fireworks show in Virginia City didn't go as planned. Five minutes into the show, embers from the fireworks started a brush fire. Storey County fire officials are now mopping up that fire, which burned around 5 acres. The fireworks show was canceled.
