    Six Republican Nevada Assembly candidates who lost their primaries by significant margins say they think voting machines may have malfunctioned and want an investigation. The candidates have filed “statements of contest” in Clark County District Court. They are asking the court to order that the electronic vote tallies be compared against paper records. The candidates include Diana Orrock, Steve Sanson, Connie Foust, Tina Trenner, Mary Rooney and Blain Jones.

    A federal judge has rejected the West family's offer to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in private security costs to release Richie West on house arrest pending his trial next year on prescription drug-trafficking charges. Richard West the Second formerly managed a local car dealership, where prosecutors say he and others sold painkillers. His lawyers say he is getting inadequate medical care at the county jail. Assistant U.S. Attorney James Keller argued it was an improper attempt to "buy his release." U.S. District Judge Miranda Du ordered West returned to jail without bail.
