In this episode, we have a conversation with the inspiring couple Ken and Mary Gergen who we met on a conference on the Faroe Islands. We are exploring how social constructionism can open up for mutual understanding and how we can embrace different perspectives .
Ken Gergen is a major figure in the development of social constructionist theory and its applications to practices of social change. He also lectures widely on contemporary issues in cultural life, including the self, technology, postmodernism, the civil society, organizational change, developments in psychotherapy, educational practices, aging, and political conflict.
Mary Gergen was a professor emerita of psychology. She positioned herself at the intellectual convergence of feminist theory and postmodernist thought, as a social constructionist.
