The annual Columbia River Indian Fishers Expo, held in late July across the river from Cascade Locks in Stevenson Washington, provided an opportunity for tribal fishers to learn how to improve their safety, marketing, and business.

The event hosted by the Columbia River intertribal fish commission featured information, resources, and training for tribal fishers as well as hearing from a panel of industry experts who spoke about the unique opportunities, challenges, and successes that arise when tribal fishers engage in direct sales, and connecting their catch with enthusiastic consumers.

Katie Russell has worked in Warm Springs for the past 12 years leaving her position as CTWS Manager of Community Health for a new position at Jefferson County Public Health. She talks about her career path and good memories of her time in Warm Springs.

Mike Williams is a Veteran's Advocate who shares information about the PACT Act - deadlines for filing claims, how important it is for Veterans to advocate for themselves and benefits due to them, and how the VA system can be complicated.

He also talks about local Veterans Services Officers and Veteran Organizations that can be a great resource.

The Thursday Market is each Thursday 10:30am until 2pm. It always features the distribution of Fresh Harvest Kits from the High Desert Food and Farm Alliance. Other weekly participants include Warm Springs WIC, Warm Springs Emergency Management and Warm Springs Prevention.
