  • What to know after the storm: School instruction, mass transit, city streets status, and more
    Kids in the Philadelphia School District have a virtual learning day on Tuesday. Archdiocesan students have a flexible instruction day.
    The snow emergency in Philadelphia was lifted Tuesday morning, meaning you can resume parking on snow emergency routes. And, the $5 discounted parking rate at PPA garages has ended.
    The city says crews have plowed 71% of roads at least once. Because of the combination of heavy snow and strong winds, downed trees have been a big problem. The city says it has received reports of 100 downed trees and has inspected 70 of them so far.
    Some SEPTA Regional Rail lines are running again, but five lines are still suspended. The majority of SEPTA bus routes are running, but many of them have detours. New Jersey Transit bus service is running on a normal schedule, but rail lines are running on a President's Day schedule.
    Additionally, American Water says it has repaired a water main break in Camden, but a boil water advisory is still in effect for several neighborhoods. It could be another two days before the water is safe to drink again.

  • Boil water advisory still in effect for some Camden residents following water main break
    Officials say the water main break happened at the intersection of 9th and Jefferson streets.
    Residents who live south of Ferry Avenue through Collings Road are included in the advisory.
    American Waters says repairs for the break have been completed.
    They will start testing the water once the system has been completely flushed.
    That could take up to three days.

  • South Jersey man sentenced to 75 years for multiple counts of child sexual assault
    The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office says 34-year-old Brian Scherfel will be 101 by the time he is eligible for parole for his 75-year sentence.
    Scherfel was convicted last summer for sexually assaulting a child multiple times between the ages of 8 and 13 from 2017 to 2022 and assaulting another 6-year-old child in 2016.
    He will not be eligible for release until the year 2093.
