Wissahickon School District has named a new principal at Lower Gwynedd Elementary School nearly two months after the previous principal was fired after allegedly leaving antisemitic remarks on a parent's voicemail.

Dr. Miesja M. Cubito was approved as the new principal at a Feb. 2 board meeting.

Cubito, who has more than 20 years in education, including six as a principal, will start at Lower Gwynedd on April 6.

She replaced Philip Leddy, who, according to the district, self-reported leaving antisemitic remarks on a voicemail. He reportedly believed the call had ended and was speaking with another employee. He was fired in December.

Federal authorities and Philadelphia police are searching for a 27-year-old man they say killed two tow-truck drivers in the Northeast within the last few months. And as KYWs Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson reports, police believe a third shooting case may be linked.
