  • Police seek public's help in search for robber who shot manager of Northeast Philly storage facility
Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help to identify the armed robber who shot the manager of a storage facility in Wissinoming Monday night.
Police have shared video on their social media pages showing the suspect pulling up to Good Deal Self Storage on Eadom Street near Bridge Street around 7 p.m. on an e-bike.
He then goes inside and is seen wearing a green ski mask with a black jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black Jordan sneakers.
The store manager and a customer were forced behind the counter while the robber stole from the cash register.
Then he shot the manager twice and rode off on the e-bike. The manager remains in critical condition.

  • Shapiro, once again, seeks to establish dedicated funding for mass transit
Gov. Josh Shapiro's budget proposal increases spending by 5%. How to pay for it? He wants lawmakers to tax skill games, legalize recreational marijuana, and close a corporate tax loophole.
The budget would direct more money to struggling schools, increase the minimum wage, and give dedicated funding to mass transit.
SEPTA is ready to lobby for that once again, as we hear from KYW Newsradio's Mike DeNardo.

That's one suggestion as the maker of "Monopoly: Philadelphia" seeks input on what should be on our edition of the board game.
Another idea, posted on Reddit: a Chance card that says "Expected snowstorm today. Pay $50 for a chair to protect your spot."

  • Looking for a side gig? Philly to hire 300 daily workers to help clear snow and ice
The city is hiring an additional 300 daily workers to help clear snow and ice. That's on top of the 1,000 city employees already hard at work.
A lot of people have been disappointed in the city's efforts so far.
The additional workers will be hired and paid on the same day. It's a model the city has used in the past to help hire homeless people.

  • Investigation finds human error led to Chester County's Election Day poll book issue
The Chester County Board of Elections says it was human error -- not misconduct -- that led to all independent or third-party voters being omitted from election day poll books last November.
Law firm Fleck, Eckert, and Klein determined that someone using the system that generates poll books incorrectly selected an option to include "only voters from the major parties".
Chester County Chief Experience Officer Megan Moser is recommending increased safeguards on the system that generates poll books to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
She's also recommending increased training, more verification, and the creation of a contingency plan for future mishaps, among other advisories.
Nearly one-fifth of the county's electorate was affected. Registered voters whose names did not appear in poll books were given the chance to submit provisional ballots. And all 230 polling locations in the county remained open two extra hours thanks to a judicially approved extension.
