  • Judge denies former labor leader John Dougherty's request for compassionate release from federal prison
A judge has denied disgraced former labor leader John Dougherty's request for compassionate release from federal prison.

The judge says while Cecilia Dougherty's "ongoing situation is extremely unfortunate, it does not outweigh, at this point in time, the need for the punishment" given to her husband.

  • 3 people died in Lehigh County while shoveling or clearing snow, coroner's office says
Three people in Lehigh County died Sunday while shoveling or clearing snow during the winter storm. The county coroner's office says the victims, aged 60 to 84, all suffered medical emergencies after removing snow, dying from natural causes.
The coroner says these types of deaths are often cardiac-related and can happen during strenuous activity, especially in older adults or those with medical conditions.
Officials urge anyone shoveling snow to take breaks, stay hydrated, avoid overexertion, and get help if needed.
