  • Before leaving office, Murphy pardons Democratic power broker's son
In the final round of pardons issued by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a few names on the list sparked controversy.
One of them, Harris Jacobs, was pardoned on the same day he was convicted in a fatal car accident. Jacobs struck and killed Atlantic City resident Orlando Fraga in 2022. His father helped raise money for first lady Tammy Murphy’s failed Senate campaign. The Atlantic County prosecutor said justice must be blind to status.
Murphy also pardoned Moshe Glick, who was charged with assaulting a pro-Palestinian protester. Glick is described as a pro-Israel activist by CAIR-New Jersey, who denounced the pardon, saying it sends a deeply troubling message.
In all, Murphy ordered a historic 455 pardons during his tenure, and he said it’s one of the greatest honors of his time as governor.

The new owners say they're in talks with local and national nonprofit health systems, which would provide emergency services.
Chariot says it hopes to open the "first phase of essential services" by the summer of 2028.

One victim told police of an incident in 2024 where he says he woke up while Cardella was holding a mask over his mouth and nose while touching him inappropriately.
Police say a safe found in Cardella’s closet contained chloroform, sleeping pills and a camcorder.

Officers took cover behind nearby vehicles, and no injuries were reported.
