  • Man trespasses onto SEPTA tracks, gets struck by train and dies
    SEPTA's Trenton Regional Rail line is suspended until further notice after a man was struck and killed by a train early Saturday afternoon.
    A SEPTA spokesperson told KYW Newsradio that the man trespassed onto the tracks between Bristol and Croydon stations on the line before being struck.
    The line remains closed as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
    Riders using the line are asked to find alternate routes to their destinations.

  • Woman dies after driver loses control of truck on icy Port Richmond road, slams head-on into her vehicle
    A pickup truck lost control on an ice-covered road in Port Richmond and struck another vehicle, killing the driver inside in a head-on collision. Philadelphia police say that a black 2007 Nissan Titan was speeding northbound on Aramingo Avenue near East Tioga Street around 2 a.m. and lost control on the icy road, crossing into the southbound lane, striking a silver 2007 Volkswagen Jetta head-on.

  • Mother shot to death during child custody swap in Upper Darby
    A woman is dead after she was shot Friday afternoon during a child custody swap in Upper Darby. According to our newsgathering partners at NBC10, the 34-year-old mother came to pick up her kids from their 45-year-old father around noon at a house on Copley Road near Walnut Street.
    They say the three kids hopped into the back of the SUV that she arrived in, and the mother sat in the driver's seat. The father then sat in the passenger seat, and an argument broke out.
    That’s when, NBC10 says, the father pulled out a gun and shot the woman before turning the gun on himself. The children, still in the back of the SUV.

  • April 13, 2025: The day the governor's mansion was set on fire
    In April, a man tried to kill Gov. Josh Shapiro, sparking a national conversation about political violence and antisemitism. The man broke into the governor’s mansion in Harrisburg, armed with Molotov cocktails and a hammer, set fire to a dining area, then fled when he was unable to break through a door where the governor and his family were sleeping. Shapiro, who is Jewish, had hosted Passover that evening. Here’s KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert.

  • Man dead in apparent North Philadelphia shootout
    A man was shot and killed in North Philly in what police are describing as a shootout late Friday afternoon.
    Police say officers heard gunshots around 20th and Susquehanna streets a little before 5 p.m.
    When they arrived, the police say they found a 35-year-old who had been shot several times, including in his abdomen.
    Police say they rushed him to Temple Hospital, where he was soon pronounced dead.
    Police inspector D.F. Pace says police believe the victim and one other person got in a shootout, but other people were in the area.
    He said one person then got into the victim's car and drove off.

  • Person breaks into Haddonfield home while owners are there, steals car keys and drives off
    Someone in Haddonfield, New Jersey, broke into a home and stole a car Friday night while the owners were in the house.
    Police say someone either walked in an open garage door or used a garage door opener in an unlocked car to get into someone's house.
    Once inside, they say, the suspect swiped car keys from the kitchen before stealing the car and driving off.
    Police say the residents were actually inside the house at the time, but they never saw the suspect and didn't initially know their car had been stolen.

  • Recapping the night a medical jet crashed in Northeast Philadelphia
    The first month of 2025 ended with a series of tragic aviation disasters. Just two days after a passenger jet collided with an army helicopter in Washington, D.C., killing 67 people, a medical jet crashed onto Cottman Avenue just after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
