    Brian Jenkins did not have it easy growing up. He was born in Tasker Projects in South Philadelphia, his mom died when he was five, and he wound up in an orphanage and grew up in foster care. Now, he’s the executive director of local nonprofit Chosen 300 Ministries. As KYW’s Justin Udo tells us, the organization worked overtime on Christmas to give back to those in need.

  • 2 men shot inside North Philly convenience store
    Police are looking for two gunmen who they say shot two people inside a convenience store in North Philadelphia.
    Officials tell NBC10 this happened just before 5 a.m. Christmas morning on Germantown Avenue near Temple Hospital.
    According to authorities, the shooters pulled up to the store, parked out front, and started firing.
    Two men shopping inside were hit and taken to the hospital.
    One of them is in critical condition.

  • Kada Scott: A case that gripped the nation
    The case of missing 23-year-old Kada Scott gripped the city and the nation.
    After weeks of searching and two anonymous tips, authorities found the young woman buried on the property of an abandoned Germantown school.
    KYW Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson covered the searches and press conferences. She says, though one man has been charged, additional arrests are expected.

  • Bucks County officials ID 1 of 2 victims killed in nursing home explosion
    Officials in Bucks County have identified one of the two victims killed in Tuesday's explosion at a nursing home in Bristol Township.
    They say she was a 52-year-old woman who worked there. The other woman killed was a resident, but she has not been identified yet.
    Local and federal authorities, like the NTSB, remain at the Bristol Health and Rehab Center investigating the blast that left 20 people injured and about 120 residents displaced.

  • Woman struck and killed by train on Atlantic City Rail Line
    The woman was struck just after 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve on the tracks near Absecon, Atlantic County.
    Officials say none of the 30 passengers and crew members on board were hurt.
    The train line is now back open after it was suspended overnight in both directions between Atlantic City and Egg Harbor City.
    NJ Transit Police are investigating the incident.
