Welcome back to Ladies Kar Care! Getting through the licensing stage is probably one of the hardest parts of your teen driving. But it’s not the only important stage, now it’s time to teach them good car maintenance. We cover the 3 tips you’ll need to keep your teen safe and your wallet from hurting!
Tips We Cover:
Your Greatest Tool: The Owner’s Manual
Dashboard lights, fluids, hood latch, brake pads, are just a few of the things your teen (and you) should be familiar with. Knowing the warning signals of your car can help keep it strong and healthy for a long time. This is a great place to open that dusty owner’s manual and see what your car has to offer.
What Your Mechanic Needs From You
There’s a lot of information your mechanic needs before they can start working on your car. Learn how you can make a quick identification card to save your teen time and stress when heading to the mechanic.
Creating Monthly Habits
This is one of my favorite tools! Part of teaching our kids how to drive is giving them new life skills to grow into a responsible adult. That’s why I’ve created a monthly maintenance checklist that will keep your teen on track and leave you with fewer unnecessary repairs. Saving you money in the long run!
Teaching your teen responsibility doesn’t have to be hard, with these three tips you’ll live carfident and worry-free knowing your teen is prepared for any emergency. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to save a little extra money. Don’t forget to download the monthly maintenance checklist from the links below!

When you think of your teen driving, what emotions come up? Recently, I talked to a mom who said she couldn’t even think about her teen behind the wheel. She’s not alone, the season of your teen growing up and learning to drive is nerve-wracking for many reasons. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make it easier for them AND you. Today we dive into the 4 stages of teen driving and how you can practically raise them to be strong and responsible drivers.
The 4 Stages We Cover:
The Preparing Stage
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to prepare mentally before your teen even gets behind the wheel. This will help reduce anxiety, worry, and tension later on so both of you can enjoy the exciting journey your teen is on.
The Teaching Stage
Who your teen learns from is important, whether it’s a friend, a driving school, or yourself, don’t be afraid to find the very best driving education for your teen.
The “Backseat Parent” Stage
Now that they’ve got their permit it's time for 6 months of practice. It is more important than ever to deal with this stage in patience, understanding, and intention. You’ll learn practical tips on how you can support your teen and deepen their education.
The Letting Go Stage
For many parents, this may be the hardest stage! You’ve done all you can to cultivate a confident and responsible driver. Now it's time to let them go and watch them grow. (Pro Tip: Handling this stage right can lead to a deeper connection between you and your teen!)

Do you remember dropping your kids off on their first day of school? It’s a jumbled mess of emotion from being excited for them to experience new things to worrying that they’ll be ok without you. There’s a whole new level of independence you have to get used to. (For both of you)
The same can be said when your kid is old enough to get behind the wheel.
Welcome back to Ladies Kar Care Talk Show! This season is dedicated to helping you and your kids get ready to hit the road safely, responsibly, and with Car-fidence! If thinking about your teen behind the wheel makes your blood pressure rise, you aren’t alone! A study has shown that the leading cause of death for teenagers in the U.S. is car crashes. And with more distractions than ever before, it’s becoming even more important to make sure our teens are confident and prepared when they get out on the road. But have no fear! We have 5 amazing tips that will prepare your teen for the road and help you manage your anxiety. These tips include:
Actively Being A Part Of The Process
There is nothing better to instill confidence in your teen than being with them in every step of the licensing process. Their teacher won’t be with them forever, so take these moments and cement their learning in your own way.
Create a Contract
When it comes to getting behind the wheel it’s important to have clear expectations. Creating a contract for them to sign helps them take it more seriously and helps you enforce the rules.
Upgrade Your Safety And Maintenance
A great way to reduce anxiety while your teen is driving is to make sure that if an emergency situation were to occur they have everything they need to take care of it safely. This is also a great way to learn more about your car with them!
Teach Them Safe Driving Techniques
Some of the best teaching we can do as parents is to lead by example. Make sure you follow all the rules for your car and show them your favorite safety techniques.
Try Not to Overreact
No one wants to run into the garage door or hit a curb. How you react to your teen’s mistakes will greatly influence how they deal with emergencies later on. Building trust with your teen is essential to keeping them safe on the road.
So hit play and learn how you can ease your anxiety and know, without a shadow of a doubt, that your teen is ready and prepared for the road ahead of them.
