Picture this: A Black woman dreams of serving underserved communities, and grows up to become one of Detroit Michigan’s finest, a policewoman.

When Cassandra “Lady” Bain, former Detroit police officer and internationally acclaimed singer, put on her Detroit PD uniform and served with her fellow officers, she knew that she had found her purpose, and was proud to serve and protect in the community where she and her family lived.

But what would you do, if a crash left you unable to walk without aid, and consequently caused you to be retired, not only from the force, but also from the life that you held so dear? Would you let depression consume you and become a recluse? Or would you find a new purpose? One that would lift the world up in song?
