So... wow. This one's a lot different than some of us remembered it. Donna's still unapologetic about her love for Ladybugs, but a few too many misguided moments prevent Chris and Carlos from giving it a pass. There is one thing all three of us can agree on though - this is two very different movies stitched together. One is a feelgood family sports comedy in the same vein as The Mighty Ducks... and the other is a raunchy Rodney Dangerfield vehicle that has more in common with The Bad News Bears. Either version would have worked, but this bizarre middle ground is pretty problematic. Topics include: Donna's experiences growing up in a town with only two soccer balls, some unnecessary early scenes that the film would be better off ditching completely, a crucial decision that needed to be made about Chester and how other characters react to him, a story about the star player from Chris' soccer team, the unbelievably uncomfortable slow-mo dream sequence, the even more uncomfortable dressing room scene, how those decisions completely change the subtext of other moments later on, and much much more!
