Welcome to Episode 11 of the Laid Off Lads Podcast!

We kick off this weeks pod with a mild intervention addressing Phil’s penchant for walking away at least once every pod and his excessive yawning during Pod 10. Did he learn his lesson? He walked away 25 minutes later.

In this week’s Cool Sh*t of the Week segment we briefly touch on an article Ferris found about a British woman who gets paid a boatload of cash to share her flatulence online. This is the world we live in, people. Then we do a deep dive into the crazy story of rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Next we extend our recent streak of talking about controversial subjects. Taking a page from one of Phil’s current college assignments, we not so delicately delve into the characteristics of each generation and our feelings about Gen X through Z. We can’t wait to see the final grade on Phil’s assignment based on his very strong feelings about a particular generation. Which generation is it? Tune in to find out!

What’s The Topic for Pod 11? Texting! We tackle the intricacies of the most dominant form of communication in today’s society. Does a period at the end of a text mean something more than no punctuation at all? Why does Phil sound like a douche every time he texts? One space or two after a period? Gif…is the G a hard G or a J sound? Remember the hard elevated keys of the old Blackberry phones? Boyce does, and he misses them. Plus, each of our most commonly used emojis.

What else did we cover this week? Do you care if your phone is listening to everything you say? Because it is! Farting/Burping in front of your significant other. And is it really illegal to share your streaming passwords? Because we would never do that.

Episode #10 of the Laid Off Lads Podcast is here! The Lads made it to double digits!

With 10 episodes under our belt, we’ve had some time to re-evaluate our format – and by “had some time” I mean literally a minute before we started Pod #10. We came to the decision that it was time to put The Classifieds on the chopping block. You see friends, we live in an ever-changing world, a world where topics, news, and content evolve exponentially from week to week. So moving forward, we’ll start each pod with a new segment called…”Cool Sh*t of the Week!”

Kicking off our newest Cool Sh*t of the Week segment, we talk about the Iceland volcano that just erupted, Boyce’s hard on for the quakes that led up to the eruption, Phil thinks the world is going to end, long ass movies, the Michael Jordan flu conspiracy, and God knows what else. This will definitely be an interesting segment to tune in to each week.

Next we celebrate the one year anniversary of the show that was synonymous with the peak of the pandemic…The Tiger King. We do a deep dive into the lunacy of this show one year later.

Who among us have dealt with bicycle riders as you’re trying to drive down a busy, 2 lane road? We share some very strong options in the debate of road rights.

Boyce ends the pod on a rage about squatters, once again self-incriminating himself for past crimes and misdemeanors.

Welcome to Episode 7 of The Laid Off Lads Podcast!

This week’s Classifieds topic was submitted by Lindsey on Instagram @princesslinz13. That topic is, “What was your dream job when you were kids and would you still want it now?” Gain some insight into the Lad’s childhood dreams and where they were crushed along the unforgiving path of life.

In our What’s The Topic segment we go interstellar as we discuss Mars and news about a potential space hotel that is in the works. Phil poses an introspective question that most people ponder on the subject of space…what is the space version of the Mile High Club? We HIGHLY encourage all listener suggestions to this question. Ferris expresses his outrage at the operating system of the Mars Perseverance Rover, and Boyce explains a common misperception of weightlessness in space.

You think that’s all we got? The content is abundant in this episode as we give tribute to Alex Trebek, talk about the evolution and complexity or Nerf weapons, paintball, Disney’s Mission Space vomitorium, and which Lad’s have been tased.

Welcome to another Monday!

While not a full podcast we proudly present to you a bonus podcast! There were several issues we encountered (see what we did there) as to why we couldn't provide the LOL fam with a full podcast. Welcome to Episode 3 of the Laid Off Lads Podcast!! After a failed attempt at a full second episode, we return with some new equipment and hosting changes to discuss jobs, and answer some of your topics. 

In The Classifieds segment we discuss an interesting job we came across from overseas that is essentially an Emotional Support Human to other Humans. So you can only imagine where that leads us. 

Then in the What's the Topic(s) segment we discuss 2 listener topics sent into us via Instagram. First up was parenting from the one only Mr. Kris Boyce. Thank you Allie for this topic! Boyce was a bit taken off guard at first , but his responses, stories and comments were absolutely as entertaining as we all know Boyce to be. 

Next up was, 3 Embarrassing Guilty Pleasures. 1 Song, 1 Thing You Buy and 1 activity. This of course takes us down the rabbit hole of off the cuff discussions that I'm sure neither us, nor you, would ever have thought you would hear us talk about. Pure brilliance comes of this topic. Thank you Ariana for the well thought out trifecta of guilty pleasures. 

Lastly we would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Mary Boyce for her amazing contribution and expertise in assisting us with the video portion of this podcast. It takes us up a slight bit from piss poor amateurs trying to pull this off to just poor amateurs trying to pull this off. In all seriousness though, thank you for your help with this pod!

Welcome to Episode 5 of the Laid Off Lads Podcast!

In this week’s Classifieds segment, we attempt to tackle a real world subject that impacts us all whether we like it or not…BUDGETING. Here we’ll give our perspectives and strategies on how we’ve managed our budgets in the face of unemployment, and the importance of having a financial plan in place to prepare for any life event whether you’re employed or not. This was a fantastic and thought provoking topic submitted by Heather via Instagram.

In our What’s The Topic segment, we do a hard 180 and contradict every bit of financial wisdom we just dispensed as we discuss the most ridiculous splurge purchases we’ve made since being laid off.  If there ever was a topic that highlights the personality of an individual, it’s how you spend money in the face of financial uncertainty. You’ll certainly learn a lot about each of us here as we reveal our most ridiculous purchases.

We wrap up Episode 5 with a topic that resonates with every one of us – MUSIC! In this topic sent to us by Aidan via Instagram, we discuss our musical tastes and preferences and the impact they’ve had on our lives. Phil tries to guess what Boyce’s musical tastes are based on no information other than his misguided perceptions. The range of musical tastes between us is wide and there are a lot of great discoveries to be found if you’re looking for something new to listen to.

Festivus Monday to Everyone!!  Welcome back to what is now the 4th Episode of the Laid Off Lads Podcast!

For The Classifieds portion of the pod we discuss our Dream Jobs. Even though it's President's Day, none of us chose being the President of anything. Which is probably why we are all laid off 🤦‍♂️ Anyways this great talking point was sent into us by the one, the only...Major Kevin Boyce of the United States Marine Corps. Yes, that would be the well esteemed and employed brother of laid off lad himself, Mr. Kris Boyce. This topic takes us on to some interesting talking points which gets the pod started properly. Next on the What's the Topic we have another 2 for you this time. The first was sent in by Darryl via Instagram, and his topic was Different Beer 🍻! We all know it, we all love it...Beer!
