S1:E8 – GRACE, TACT, CONFORMITY, VAGINA LICKING AND CRAFTING THE ULTIMATE CRITICISM SANDWICH: CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – MAKE HIM BEG FOR YOUR ATTENTION
After a brief hiatus your hosts Carla and Delia discuss the weeks away from the microphone: Delia took a family vacation to the Middle West (Dubuque Iowa in specific) and learned about gnats, weather and what happens when you turn off your deal-breaker button on the Hinge App. (a full on stampede of early 20 somethings). Carla recounts the awe-inspiring beauty of her friend’s wedding celebration, declaring a turning point which has filled her with optimism and excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. Then diving head first into this week’s book, “Make Him Beg For Your Attention: 75 Communication Secrets for Captivating Men to Get the Love and Commitment You Deserve” by Bruce Bryans.

Please email us and tell us how you landed your man or woman. We love to hear your stories and share them on the program! Next week we turn to the Rules the ultimate dating guide to find love and commitment. Delia is a rule breaker. A rule breaker with opinions. And the rules that made sense in 1995 (like the Macarena and Thighmasters) did not hold water a few decades later.

This week your illustrious hosts Carla and Delia kick off the episode by discussing career transitions (Congrats Carla! And if anyone needs to buy or sell some property, holler at your girl!) and Delia who is googly eyed about this week’s book (and the ENTIRE freaking title), “He’s Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys *The Newly Expanded Edition” by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo.
After going through the correct pronunciation of the author’s names, Delia imparts that ‘twer she the Captain of The World this book would be mandatory reading. The book touches on the pitfalls of dating and step by step goes through the excuses that men offer as to why they aren’t calling or making plans and bottom line, they just aren’t that into you.
As an easy read with a conversational writing style it hit a chord prior books have not. The tone is that of a protective brother or close male friend. And while the info is good (albeit dated, like the answering machine on the cover) the exercises were a little too tongue in cheek and not for anyone seeking a deep examination of their behavior. Delia touches on examining the importance of what one feels they deserve. Spoiler alert, it’s a better plan than a text at 9pm asking what she’s up to for the evening. Carla shares that the way to her heart is a plan. And not the 9pm text variety.
The ladies get into some of the common excuses given by dudes including the busy myth. (And a host of others) At the end of the day, if guys want to pursue, they will pursue. The girls talk about the lure of unavailable men with the exception of the subset of polyamory. Carla and Delia agree, it’s just not their flavor. Your hosts get real about the willful ignoring of excuses/warning signs and getting caught up in relationship potential.
Carla shares a story about a friend who calls bullshit on this book and how it almost destroyed his relationship with his now husband. Proving that there is exceptions to every rule. Sometimes he is that into you but he’s also worked a double shift and is fucking tired.

S1:E6 – BISCUITS, BLOWIES, FUCK BUDDIES AND MANIPULATION: CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – THE POWER OF THE PUSSY
And a 5, 6, 7, 8… jazz hands your hosts Carla and Delia stop just short of full blown choreo and talk about Fosse and Verdon and their dysfunctional, fucked up relationship but how they still loved each other. Carla confesses she picked this week’s book based on the title and Delia shares a dating story coining the phrase, “fireplaced”. Which turns into a cautionary tale akin to stranger danger. The ladies shuffle-ball-change into this week’s book, “The Power of The Pussy: Get What You Want From Men: Love, Respect, Commitment and More!” by Kara King.
Carla and Delia share this week’s foibles in online dating. Carla decides she enjoys getting words in edgewise and doesn’t know how long she can exercise patience when breaking down walls. Both women agree, no settling, no compromise. And on that note the gals explore the notion of realizing what they have between their legs and all the fun gifts and prizes they could get! (oh and love, emotional connection, partnership, etc.) But Delia is angling for a pontoon boat. Carla calls bullshit on women not wanting sex as much as men and Delia questions the logistics of dating everyone. Yes… EVERYONE.
Carla and Delia pour through the gaggle of rules posited by the author: Men don’t fall in love with sluts. Wait at least two months before sleeping together. If you need your needs met, get a fuck buddy and absolutely under no circumstances, EVER give a blow job. The ladies decide weaponizing the vagina is not the way to go and assures listeners they are using their powers for good and not evil. Carla divulges the line she had to “Peace Out!” on and the exercises that were a little helpful in clarifying what you want in a man and what you want out of a man.
Carla shares a story of her friend who’s fuck buddy turned into her husband of sixteen years. And Delia wistfully confesses that that is indeed her fairytale. No prince charming required.
Please email us and tell us how you landed your man or woman. We love to hear stories and share them on the program! Next week we go into all the excuses men give for not giving you a full blown commitment and learn that he just might not be that into us.

S1:E5 – AND THE BITCHES HAVE IT: CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – WHY MEN LOVE BITCHES
The ladies are back! Carla and Delia discuss Delia’s dating tally (she’s up to 5ish) and considering purchasing jock jams to get pumped for dating! Carla discusses a gentleman caller whom she’s been messaging and the high stakes game of complimentary musical tastes. The girls then plan out their breath to dive into this week’s book, “Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl- A Woman’s Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship” by Sherry Argov.
Carla and Delia discover the importance of defining terms, what a ‘bitch’ truly is and why we’re leaning into the moniker. Why men love confident, self-possessed, independent women wouldn’t sell as many copies. Bitches be branding.
The ladies discuss the book’s chapters but also the 100 Attraction Principles. We discover that Carla is vocal in the boudoir, which is in line with her authentic self. (Attraction Principle #28) While Delia is guilty of the cardinal sin of giving too much up of herself. (Attraction Principle #43 and 44 respectively) Carla and Delia touch on exterior validation, the importance of buying your own damn flowers, being alone (Yes, completely alone so please bring the chips and salsa already!) and why unavailability is such a turn on.
Carla and Delia discuss the lost art of banter and why it is so important, the ‘nice’ debate, the importance of financial stability (Attraction Principle #82) and the need to have a plan for a date (Attraction Principle #91). Delia wonders out loud why she has never been one of the thousands interviewed for a relationship book and Carla ponders if dudes are just sitting at home waiting for us to call. Maybe, because these bitches have their own fabulous life! (flags down waitress to order guac… totally alone.)
A quick poll: Listeners, do you prefer someone who plans a date or do you prefer spontaneity? Give us your best experience with a planned date and the best spontaneous outing! Next week we examine a woman’s most powerful asset. Spoiler alert, it ain’t her eyes. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Recipes? Dating Stories? Constructive Criticism? S1:E4 – BE THE LIGHT (EVEN IF IT’S A GLOW STICK): CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – THE TAO OF DATING
Namaste. Your hosts the non-delicate daisies, Carla and Delia chop it up about the past week: Delia dives into her second date with breakfast guy, highlighting the point where things crashed and burned, Carla shares a glowing review Land Your Man received on iTunes (compliments of Delia’s gal pal Courtney). The ladies take a deep breath and align themselves with this week’s book, “The Tao of Dating: The Smart Woman’s Guide to Being Absolutely Irresistible” by Ali Binazir MD.
Delia talks about something even more intimate than butt sex and Carla shares a story about the a rerun fella who perpetually has his fireplace lit. From there we discover what it takes to go from mostly irresistible to ABSOLUTELY irresistible. Carla clarifies “tao” not “dow” and we take stock of her portfolio of cats and pizza.
Moving through warrior one, Carla gets to the meat of the matter. The balance in the relationship, the yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) and that if you only exercise the author’s chief tenant: be the light, you’ll be well on your way. Once we embrace our own wholeness we begin to attract our mirror. Delia is almost on board until the author discusses what not to do with a potential suitor. (No high fives?! No cursing?! The fuck…)
The girls talk about the patience it takes to tell your unique love story. Carla bristles at the notion of “making” a man fall in love with anyone or anything and Delia changes into something a little more comfortable. (A dress made of bacon gentlemen?) We learn where to meet and where not to meet eligible bachelors. You’ll find Carla and Delia at a local happy hour, being the light. Cue the deep house/trance/dubstep.
Next week we learn about being bitches, the good kind of bitches. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Recipes? Dating Stories? Constructive Criticism? Shoot us a message, [email protected]

*EPISODE NOTES
S1:E3 – RADIO SILENCE ALWAYS WORKS: CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – IGNORE THE GUY, GET THE GUY
In this episode, your hosts Carla and Delia discuss the week in review: Mother’s Day, taking a 14 incher (pizza you guys), and if there still is such a thing as the MTV Spring Break House or MTV in general. After sharpening their double entendre game, the ladies hop to the discussion at hand, this week’s book, “Ignore the Guy, Get The Guy A Woman’s Survival Guide To: Mastering a Break-Up and Taking Back Her Power” by Leslie Braswell.
Finding credentials on the author was a touch difficult but the girls examine the key reason the no contact rule works, answer the question, “Can we be friends?”, and what you can infer about a guy by how he breaks up with you. Spoiler alert, the emoji route isn’t the way to go… unless you know, taco emoji.
Both of the ladies get real about past experiences on the emotional roller coaster, with extra special pit stop in depression. The author asks the question, “Is there a chance there is something better?” A better guy for you as each breakup teaches you something new. This leads the ladies to ask, “Do we really want the guy back?”
A Kim Basinger quote enlightens the ladies on trusting their intuition and the difference between the way men and women view intuition, logic and trusting their gut. Carla and Delia get raw and real about shame, humiliation and embarrassment that not trusting intuition led them to. Sometimes ignoring the guy, full stop is the best way to move forward.
Next week we get spiritual… Questions? Comments? Concerns? Recipes? Dating Stories? Constructive Criticism? Shoot us a message, [email protected]

S1:E2 – WE ARE SPARTANS! OR BASIC BITCHES WITH THE RIGHT WEAPONRY: CARLA AND DELIA REVIEW – MEN DON’T LOVE WOMEN LIKE YOU
In their sophomore episode, your hosts Carla and Delia discuss the week in review: dating edition and how registering on Hinge has fared thus far. Then jumping into this week’s book, “Men Don’t Love Women Like You: The Brutal Truth About Dating, Relationships and How to Go from Placeholder to Game Changer” by: G.L. Lambert.
Carla and Delia question what qualifications the author has to be a relationship expert, the myth that we are all special (even if we can lick our own nipples), the cold hard truth that we are not our vagina and positive takeaways such as: the risk of sex early on, building a friendship first and the importance of being a woman of character and running your own show.
The ladies chat about creepy narration, the weaponry of Spartans, going into battle (dating) and being overwhelmed by the contradicting work women have to do to land a man. Delia questions chapter titles and gets dick curious while Carla elaborates on the necessity for a man to have a safe space to be vulnerable.
They hone in one thing to try in future interactions geared toward being in a relationship: Carla, being friends first and Delia her sultry sexy side. Because let’s face it, life is about choices, even for Spartans. Carla gives a preview for the next book, and a shout out to our friends over at UR Gonna Die Alone Podcast, hosts: Cristyn Chandler and Jordan Jacobo. Thank you for your support with technical issues and hilarious commentary on celebrity break ups.

They also discuss the pros and cons of chaperones, the first Valentine’s Day and the first ladies night which did not achieve its intent to civilize men.
The ladies chat about the advantages of being courtesans, the freedom bicycles brought women and Delia’s penchant for procrastination which is why the entire book wasn’t covered. Carla opens the door for FutureMan and the importance of (Present)RightNowMan. Carla gives a preview for the next book, and a shout out to Fright School Podcast hosts, Joe Fejeran and Joshua Napier.
