Members Reviews:
Love the Fantasy Football series!
What did you love best about Huddle Up?
I love the tongue in cheek way the author has with describing the characters' thoughts, especially Billy when he meets Angel again in her late father's old bar/poolhall. Having a big brawny football guy be more concerned with the wiles of his old flame than the burly bartender/family friend was quite amusing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Angel - I loved her toughness and her love for her daughter. Being a single mom raising her child alone for 5 years plus dealing with an alcoholic father was so hard for her, but she never forgot Billy and still was in love with him, despite all the misunderstandings.
What about Christine Padovans performance did you like?
Her acting ability in bringing the individual characters to life. She continues to improve with her narration style which is a big plus because I love the writing of Liz Matis so much, I'd hate to not buy these audiobooks if the narrating was not enjoyable to listen to.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, but more anger that these two missed out on being a family together for the first 5 years of their child's life, but if I say why, that will spoil the surprise twist in the story.
Any additional comments?
Hope the author continues the series - very fun shorts with great characters mixed with the right amount of conflict and hot sex :-)
The perfect summertime romance!
The author continues to create a wonderful thread between the characters in her first two stories in the series, and with the new characters she introduces here - plus cleverly sets up the ending for another story to follow!
The writing keeps getting better - there is always background and plot with conflict and great humor thrown in, not just gratuitous sex. The narrator is smooth and always a pleasure to listen to.
Another winning 'season' in 'Huddle Up'!
Nice story, but terrible narrator
This book had a nice story to it and I wish I had read it on my Kindle instead of listening to the audio version. The narrator had a weird method of speaking, very much like the "one-up lady" that used to be on Saturday Night Live. Just listen to the sample and you'll understand what I mean. It was almost comical, but distracting from the actual storyline. In the book, a young football player finds out he is a father four years later when the mom threatens him with a paternity suit. She is broke and nearly homeless after her dad gambles away all the money and then passes on. The reconnection between these two makes for a nice easy romance.
Absolutely Awful Narration
I couldn't even get past the first 15 minutes.
