About the best true story book

one of the best true story books I have listened to. It's a must a gives you insight into the wonderful work these dogs (& trainers) do.

An inspirational, heartwarming book

Definitely worth hearing this incredible story. There are so many highs and lows and I kept having to remind myself that this was not made up, it actually happened. Some happenings are nothing short of miraculous. Full of emotion - yes, tears too - but mainly just uplifting and inspirational and a grounder to remind you that many of us have little to moan about. My only reservation was that the style of writing took me a long while to get into (the story was always gripping) and the narration was uninspiring and rather wooden.

Great story

A remarkable story about s remarkable man. Jason faced incredible challenges, and numerous low-points, and as an airborne warrior picked himself up and faced up to each & every one.

I would have given this straight 4's but the narration lets it down. Wooden, stilted, fragmented sentence narrative. It deserved better.

Astounding, amazing, a recommended read

A fantastic story eloquently and passionately written and then spoken. Never has a book had me laughing out loud, giving my opinion or commenting on the storyline and then crying tears of sorrow. A wonderful book. Highly recommended!

A beautifully written and inspirational story- A must read for all!

Pete takes his readers with him on his journey of humor, pain, love, and most of all faith as he battles brain cancer. His story is written from the heart and is so raw and real I often felt like I was there with him. His story is truly remarkable in many ways: one is the simple fact he is alive and has beaten all odds placed against him and the second is that he has been humbled by his cancer. He looked to God for the answers and found them but also found so much more. His story is truly inspiring and this book is a must read for anyone who thinks the decks are stacked against them. Sharing his Journey

I was very bitter after I lost my father to lung cancer. Pete's journey helped me realize that Dad's death was a blessing, for he loved Jesus Christ and was ready for his place in Heaven. I was the one that wasn't ready for him to go. Reading this book gave me peace, acceptance, and assurance that he is well taken caren of in Heaven.

A page turner for sure.

Beautifully written. Mr. Willis lets you experience God's work in his life. His story is proof that with God all things are possible. Once you begin reading, you will not want to stop.

funny, and full of hope

Mr. Willis' writing is real, and hits home. The book is uplifting, funny, and full of hope. I especially enjoyed the peeks into his marriage, his love for his wife and children is blindingly obvious. I am inspired! So glad I took the time to pick this up, once I started reading I couldn't stop until I had finished!

the straight skinny on life's lowest point. He is so comfortable sharing

what's in his head(and heart) while telling his inspiring story. I recommend

Inspiring

Jhumpa Lahiri is among my favorite writers, but my admiration for her has elevated to another level of respect with her first non-fiction work, In Other Words. This is no ordinary memoir or collection of reflective essays. This is a writer taking her passion for the art and beauty of language to an unparalleled degree of exploration. Lahiriâs lifelong love of Italian compelled her to move with her family to Rome in order to immerse herself in the language. Not only did she desire to speak Italian, she decided to write exclusively in it as well. Her devotion to Italian went so far as abandoning her use of English. She recounts this journey with great honesty and candor, revealing how vulnerable, insecure, and uncertain she felt along the way. Even with all she has given to learning the language, Lahiri shares her trepidation that her Italian will forever be inadequate and ungraspable, but I found her expressiveness in the language to be quite profound. Amazingly great work by a renowned author. I admire the willingness to immerse oneself in another language, sensing that it will open new worlds, though some fellow Americans will not get the point as they have no idea what happens when you begin to interact in another language.

Touching stories

Ellen Gray Massey loves the Ozarks and it comes through in every word of this memoir. In every word of each essay, each story. She knows the mindset, the landscape, and the spirit of Ozarkians, not the silly hillbilly stuff that is sometimes promoted, but the freedom-loving, self-sufficient, confident people who live in the area, and she knows their joys and their sorrows. A must read.

I know this author personally so I know that evey word of this bio is true. What an amazing woman, caring nurse and excellent writer, esp considering that English is not her 1st language. I also reccomend the sequal, Living in a Land Where No Apples Grow, as Christel goes on with life in the US.

A bridge across the Atlantic Ocean

Living amongst undernourished and sick children,I can see that even in difficult times a child can live a clean life with parents who are God fearing.The Author brought out how children can live with bombs all around them and still live a fairly normal life.Self preservation and motivation can be instilled in a young child and nourished ,given the admonition and encouragment which will last a lifetime.There were intense sections of life with sickness ,hunger which could influence a life which is not guided right.It seems the children had respect for their mother who in turns showed respect to her children.It seemed the "Red Pitcher" in the story was a vocal point in the book, a clear situation a child can get into with hardly any effort.

t was like a red thread of deterimination and a persistant goal leading the Author to venture out ,to persue her nursing degree ,a amost difficult choice in a foreign language. Her sight defnitaly were set towards the Great Land a land of the free, stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from above, from the mountains to the prairy to the ocean wide with foam God Bless America my home sweet home.
