Surveying the spiritual landscape today one would undoubtedly be seriously confused about the requirements to have a relationship with God. There are so many distinct beliefs about what is required theologically, ceremonially, and behaviorally to enter the kingdom. The same was true in the days of John the Baptist, which is why he took it upon himself to make the path to God very very straight. Join Russ and Tony as they explore the most unique gospel—the gospel of John—through the lens of the finished work of Jesus. This episode covers John 1:19-34.

Finding Freedom In Christianity
We know there is freedom in Jesus, but not many of us experience freedom in the communities that claim Jesus. Episode 44 of the Larkcast explores why we're more likely to receive a to-do list than the comforting news that we're loved and what you can do about it all.

Irreligious Easter
On this episode of the Larkcast, we take a break from our finding freedom series to discuss why Easter is not a religious holiday, and why that matters for everyone longing to know the freedom, rest, and adventure Jesus promised. If the word “resurrection” sounds like a fairy tale, an empty concept, or something that doesn’t matter in the everyday mundane things of life, then you need to dig into this conversation!

Finding Freedom In Work
So why are we talking about finding freedom in a culture that prides itself on being free? A large percentage of us are indeed distancing ourselves from religion and leaving the church. However, it seems our inherent religious impulse is still alive and well. Everywhere we look, we find ladders to climb, paths to walk, goals to achieve, and the relief from our pain being pursued. Anything to assure ourselves we're "okay," that we're worthy. So even though religion as we traditionally know it is fading, it seems to be rebranding itself in other areas of life where significance, security, and belonging can be found. Episode 42 explores our favorite American obsession—work.

Episode 40 dives into the issue of busyness. Some of us are finding justification in life through busyness while others are seeking justification in our solution to busyness.
