LAST WORD RADIO

The guys are back for another episode. This time they have with them a special guest, Matt Barlowe! Matt is a Canes fan who does analysis at Barloweanalytics.com. Matt Barlowe joins the guys to break down the 2018 Carolina Hurricanes.

They start off by looking at the 2018 Carolina Hurricanes start to the season. From the hot start to the cold stretch following that. Matt helps break down what the Hurricanes are doing differently from last year. Alex and Chace also ask him about thoughts on former Canes coach Bill Peters and whether he was holding the team back.

Following that, they look at what the 2018 Carolina Hurricanes should do in net for this season. They explore the net going forward and look at what could be down the road. They then switch to trade analysis and what could be. Looking at the Dougie Hamilton trade and why it was a win for the Canes. Chace then asks Matt about a proposal for William Nylander for Teuvo Teravainen. Lastly, the guys look at Justin Faulk, his role and future in Carolina.

Last Word on Habs Pod: Hockey Anthropology

In this week's episode, Connor and Johannes discuss the Habs week. From those games, they debate who is the better prognosticator. They congratulate Carey Price on becoming second in wins by a Habs goaltender,  passing Patrick Roy.

The guys also discuss a troubling trend in the Habs style. Still, Johannes states that the Habs may have found an antidote to this trend during the Bruins game. Connor mentions how refreshing it is to see a coach that is adapting tactics during the game.

Then the guys get into a bit of an anthropological discussion about how societies develop hockey players. Picking up on something said during the NESN broadcast (!), Johannes posets players developed in Sweden and Finland are better prepared to make the jump to the NHL.

Picking up on trade talk from last week, Johannes brings a trade proposal to the table for Connor to consider, involving Karl Alzner.

All this and snow talk, winners and losers, a one-word answer on if the Habs hot start is sustainable and much more.

What's up Internet? We're back! Today on Last Word SC Radio, Matt and Dan sit down with fried brains to recap the MLS Decision Day 2018 that was. We discuss the musical chairs that was the Western Conference playoff seeding race. The guys congratulate New York Red Bulls on winning the Supporters' Shield, as well as Real Salt Lake and Columbus Crew SC on making the playoffs.

Last Word on Habs Pod: The Alzner Of It All

In this episode, Connor and Johannes look back at a productive week for the Canadiens. Still, are there some troubling signs creeping into the Habs game? Never the less, the Habs are playing exciting hockey, even if it's only seven games into the season.

Our hosts then discuss the issue of the Habs defence. Notably, Johannes goes in on how some of the Habs defencemen are ill-suited to the up-tempo brand of hockey the Canadiens are employing. The conversation then shifts to the pending issue the Habs have with their roster. After losing Jacob de La Rose on waivers, can the Habs risk losing another player for nothing? With David Schlemko and Shea Weber coming back, the Habs have too many healthy, NHL bodies. Johannes wants to make a trade, but Connor doesn't know how realistic that is.
