  • MnM Hockey Podcast: NHL Analytics, Forward Thinking, and Draft Pick Value with Chris Watkins

Alex and Chace have returned for another week of NHL discussion. This week, at the time of recording there wasn't too much news to talk about. So they had Chris Watkins join the podcast. Better known to some by Yolo Pinyato on Twitter, Chris is a writer for Hockey Graphs who likes to think about the game in a different way. The guys have a discussion about the idea of a fourth forward playing defence instead of a bad third pair defenceman that coaches love these days. As well, how does that fit with the idea of positionless hockey?

Chris dives into some of the data with supporting NHL analytics as to why four forwards may actually be more beneficial from what we've already seen. Another discussion they dive into is the idea of draft pick value and why teams who are good should be much more willing to trade picks for any type of roster player. Tune in for all of that and more, with the MnM Hockey Podcast.

Alex and Chace are back for another week of content. There isn't much news going on in the NHL this week, however, there have been a handful of jerseys that have been revealed. Including what is going on with the Vancouver Canucks? Is there a quick solution and what is the long-term outlook there?

They move on to look at a couple of teams that are starting off hot including the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida Panthers. • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Out! Washington Spirit Win NWSL Championship

It has finally happened, Manchester United ripped off the band-aid and deliver the message, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Out! After their 4-1 loss to Watford. However, this goes beyond just one result, it has been a long time coming. Sean and Erik go through the game, the talk from the players, Ole himself, and this idea of two interim managers and who in the world would want to come to take the job from Michael Carrick, and of course who winds up the next full manager for the club.

The Washington Spirit fulfilled their tagline as the "Team of Destiny" as Trinity Rodman willed the team to victory with two important setups that turned into the two goals that gave The Spirit a 2-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars. The Spirit now become the 5th team to win the NWSL Championship and now attention turns to the off-season where an expansion draft looms as well.

All of this, plus NBC retaining the rights to the English Premier League for another six years after they paid 2.7 Billion to stave off approaches from CBS, ESPN, and even Warner Media. FIFA has made a big change to the Intercontinental Playoffs and more.

  • Last Word on Sens: COVID Break, Callups, and Roster Construction

Alex is back after a two-week break. Since the last episode, there is plenty to talk about. Including the Ottawa Senators being shut down for a full week thanks to a COVID outbreak. To help him break all the news down is Steve on Sens. Together, the two start by looking at what this break means and should it have happened sooner? Then, they switch to the Ottawa Senators roster as a whole and how this season has already become a bit of a throwaway season. Diving into what they want to see going forward and why this year needs to be a learning year for management.

The guys also take a look at the last eight Sens games in which they went 1-6-1, an absolutely terrible stretch of hockey. It wasn't just COVID that impacted things, it's the team as a whole. Regardless, they also discuss what they liked out of certain rookie players and has someone like Lassi Thompson done enough to stay full time?

  • Soccer 2 the MAX: Canada Leads World Cup Qualifying after Beating Mexico

A super eventful 8th round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers gives us a new leader at the top of the table to finish out 2021 as Canada bests Mexico 2-1 on a frigid night in Edmonton to get 16 points. The game had drama from the 1st minute until the 95th minute and so much happening in-between too.

Elsewhere, the United States Men's National team only manages a draw at The Office in Kingston, Jamaica as once again some Michail Antonio magic helps the Reggae Boyz pick up another point, as the USA suffers yet another lackluster showing away from home. Considering the US have more away games left than home games, is there a way to solve this problem? Sean Garmer and Erik Watkins go through the talking points and performances from both of the big games on the night.

Plus, a customary trip around CONCACAF sees things get even tighter at the top and another squad creates a small window of distance from the other squads at the bottom. There's plenty to talk about as it is past the halfway point in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying.

Right before the guys started recording the Game Awards 2021 Nominees were announced. So they go through the game-related ones and give their early predictions for who is going to take the crown and who they would like to see win.

Marc also gives his first thoughts on Shin Megami Tensei V. Sean finally beat Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and also played a lot more of Eastward as well.

There are also thoughts on the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition mess, the NPD for October 2021, Elder Scrolls VI being an exclusive for Xbox and PC, Gamepass was once a rental service and more.
