Latch-Key Dads

Movies played such a big part in our childhood and in this episode, we review one of the biggest, Stand By Me. Released in August of 1986, this coming of age movie taught kids all across America that life wasn't fair. We laughed at the jokes, despised Ace Chambers, and connected with characters like never before. Generation X movies didn't hold punches and watching Chris Chamber bawl his eyes out to Gordie Lachance made us all grow up a little bit quicker. Join us as we review August of 1986.

From the boring adult themes of Bennigan's, Sizzlers, Chilis, and Chi-Chis to the fun kid friendly options of Showbiz Pizza and The Ground Round, join the fun as we revisit our favorite places to eat!

All great shows have the obligatory 'highlight' episode. Typically after some arbitrary number of episodes is reached, they mash together the best bits and mix in a little bit of new content. On a completely unrelated note - Latch-Key Dads is proud to present our 50th episode! Tim and Greg revisit some of their favorite moments in between playing Ikari Warriors on the NES. If you're new to the podcast, this is a great way to see what Latch-Key Dads is all about - enjoy!

Start with one Elvis impersonator and add six muscle-bound athletes in sparkling outfits. Mix in one part gameshow and multiple physically enduring challenges. Sprinkle in an unhealthy dose of steroids, alcohol and drugs and you get...American Gladiators!  As kids, we loved watching regular people go up against Gemini, Nitro or Blaze in events like the Gauntlet, Powerball and Joust. Check out the latest episode of Latch-Key Dads and learn the crazy true story of American Gladiators.
