  • Refusing To Age Gracefully Fighting The Aging Process (Part 2) - Darnell Cox 5/13/16
The Living Young Lifestyle is the goal for those that are 40+ and anti-aging has become big business. There are those who want to age gracefully and then there are those who plan on fighting it tooth and nail till they are in the grave. Darnell Cox from The Living Young Life Style joins Mark Alyn and discuss how to get the most out of life and retain your youth.

There have been major advances in the war on aging. Darnell tells us that we can expect to look younger in five years than we do right now. The best news is that this can be done with out having to go under the knife. The advancement in skin care products, such as creams, lotions, and moisturizers are revitalizing skin and skin care. You will now be able to look younger longer and reverse some of the damage that has been done to your skin.

One of the keys to remaining young and youth full is your attitude. Darnell talks about her "Bucket List" and our need for one. One of the side effects of getting older is that you hit a point where you accomplish all of you goals. You became a teenage, then graduated High School, went to college, became old enough to by alcohol, got married, had kids, landed your dream job and then you wake up with nothing left to do but wait to die. Keeping and updating a bucket list gives you goals to obtain and a reason to get up in the morning. That is the key to anti-aging. Who wants to wake up at 90 years of age and realized that you wasted the last 30 years of your life waiting to die. Why not travel, start a business, learn to fly, learn a new language, write a book, or coach a sport you loved as a kid but were too busy to coach your kids.

  • Food As Medicine & Summer Time Cravings (Part 1) - Dr. Keith Kanter 5/20/16
Did you know that you could use Food as Medicine? The old saying "You Are What You Eat" has never been truer than it is today. Dr. Keith Kanter, a leading nutritionist and naturopathic physician, says, "Specific food cravings can indicate serious health problems including addiction."

What summer time food cravings indicate and how they affect the brain is what N.A.M.E.D. (Nutritional Addiction Mitigation Eating & Drinking) is all about. Everyone knows that eating a healthy diet makes for a healthier body. Eating healthy also helps people with drug and alcohol addiction recovery by naturally suppressing opiate receptors in the brain.

With nutritional support the N.A.M.E.D. program helps increase the success of addiction recovery while lowering the relapse rate of addicts in recovery. Sugar and gluten stimulate opiate receptors, which increase the craving for abused drugs and alcohol.

The NA.M.E.D. menus are easy to prepare, taste great and feature organic and natural foods. Preparing food using this method can also be less expensive than traditional meals.

Using supplements to enhance the program is also important. Omega 3 fish oil to B-complex and others help to maintain a general healthy lifestyle. Reducing caffeine and getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night is another of the program.

In addition to working with people with addictions, the program also works with patients with mental illness. So now you know that you can use Food as Medicine!

  • The Hidden Secrets Of Hoarding (Part 1) - Dorothy Breininger 3/25/16
Dorothy Breininger author of Stuff Your Face Or Face Your Stuff, is a professional organizer and helps people unclutter their lives. Dorothy joins Mark Alyn and The Insane Darrell Wayne and discusses the underlying causes of Hoarding. From not being able to cope with an illness to never recovering from a personal lose many things can lead to the slippery slope of Hoarding. Dorothy discusses the fact that most do not think anything is wrong and you can not convince them that they have a problem. Mark tells a story of a friend of his that has a family member that will not throw anything away.

Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them. A person with hoarding disorder experiences distress at the thought of getting rid of the items. Excessive accumulation of items, regardless of actual value, occurs.

Hoarding often creates such cramped living conditions that homes may be filled to capacity, with only narrow pathways winding through stacks of clutter. Some people also collect animals, keeping dozens or hundreds of pets in unsanitary conditions because they can't care for them properly.

Hoarding ranges from mild to severe. In some cases, it may not have much impact on your life, while in other cases it seriously affects your functioning on a daily basis.

People with this disorder often don't see it as a problem, making treatment challenging. But intensive treatment can help people overcome this disorder and understand their compulsions and live safer, more enjoyable lives.

  • Reverse Aging With Healing For The Body - Deanna Hanson 3/25/16
Deanna Hansen, Creator of "Block Therapy", joins us to talk about how you slow down or reverse aging and can drop 50 pounds just like she did! Deanna Hansen created Block Therapy so that patients and other Therapist could emulate her techniques. So what is "Block Therapy." Block therapy uses "Fluid Isometrics" to bring "heat" to the "frozen" fascia tissue. Over time fascia tissue compresses and becomes dense. The body covers that dense tissue with fat, disease settles and and then comes chronic pain and fatigue. When your body is working at it's optimum potential the blood flows freely dropping off nutrients and flushing out waste. When the fascia tissue is frozen the blood is restricted and your health is compromised.

    Feel Younger and Reverse Aging

The aging processes happen because cells get diseased and stop functioning at their full potential. With Block Therapy Deanna Hansen has seen the aging process slow down and in some cases reverse. Because the whole body is covered in fascia tissue Block Therapy allows you to keep the Blood Flowing at optimum levels this allows for proper nutrition of the cells and removal of harmful by-products and waste. As the fascia tissue becomes more fluid your aches and pains just melt away.

    Reduce Wrinkles and Reverse Aging

So how do we reduce wrinkles and keep our skin looking young and healthy, lifelong? The first thing we need to understand is what causes the tissue to age. Understanding the mechanism of aging gives us the ability to understand how to reverse or slow this process.

Aging is the combination of a number of factors, but most significantly it is the natural result of the force of gravity on our body. Gravity is constantly pulling our bodies toward the earth. But, we have a counterforce to gravity built into our biology. It is the full conscious exhalation, but we need to use it consistently and fully in order to experience its benefits.

Another factor affecting the aging process is the lack of proper use of posture. We are all naturally dominant on one side. Over time, our asymmetrical movements begin to torque on the tissue in our body. In its attempts to keep us upright, the tissue begins to layer over itself, gripping onto bony surfaces on its way down, causing a spiralling effect. This is also what causes tissue to wrinkle.

To reverse this process and reduce wrinkles there a 3 things we need to do:

    1) Release the grips on the bone. These block blood and energy flow and pull tissue away from its proper placement, causing tension. Block Therapy releases these grips.

    2) Inflate the tissue that had been compressed by breathing life and levity back into the cells. Conscious breathing does this.

    3) Rebalance the body to minimize the affects unconscious posture creates over time.
