About Emma Kate

Emma Kate writes romcoms sprinkled generously with the very tropes that make her heart race: sports, small towns, and sarcastic heroines. When she's not building worlds or creating characters that stay with you long after the last page, you'll find Emma spending time with her family, watching sports, or enjoying her small, Colorado town.

In this episode, we dive into the contemporary romance book Variation by Rebecca Yarros. While many people may know Rebecca Yarros for the Empyrean series including Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm, her writing career actually started writing contemporary romance novels. Variation is her latest contemporary romance book and it’s utter perfection.

During the episode, we discuss the complicated history that affects all of the characters, the impact of keeping secrets, the tenacious ten-year-old that is a standout in the book, the emotions this book makes you feel, and the extremely spicy scenes including the one in the ballet studio that leaves rent free in our mind.

In this episode, we deep dive into the third book in the Blood and Ash series, The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer Armentrout. During this episode, we discuss the explosive beginning of this book and how the rapid pace seemed to continue throughout every chapter, the deepening of Casteel and Poppy’s relationship, the moments that made our jaws drop (hello Miss Willa!), and the spicy moments that made this a four pepper book. Plus, we fall way down the rabbit hole with theories from this book and revisit our theories from the second book. And we talk about how we’re feeling after another massive cliffhanger that made us sob and want to immediately jump into the next book in the series.
