Late Night Reads episodes

  • The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman. This is the first book in the fantasy romance series about werewolves.

During this episode, we discuss how we loved the book starting with Princess Aurora being kidnapped by an alpha werewolf the night before her wedding, how much we disliked Callum only to fall in love with him, why we’re extremely intrigued by the bad boy Blake, how much we enjoyed seeing Aurora clutch her pearls, how the slow burn definitely pays off in some spicy scenes that align perfectly with the plot, and why we can’t read to read the second book in the series. Plus, we chat about all of our theories of what might really be going on in this world and what we think could happen in the next book in the series, The Night Prince.

  • Happily Never After by Paisley Nash

In this episode, we dive into the contemporary romance book Happily Never After by Paisley Nash. It has some of our favorite tropes, including a small-town romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, found family, and slow burn.

During this episode, we discuss why a romance book that starts with f*ck happily ever afters immediately has our attention, the authenticity of the characters, how Kade Archer might be the perfect romance MMC, how we loved Georgia’s character development, why we’ll never forget what Kade did with a honey stick or what he did to Georgia when she was baking, and why we give this book a four-and-a-half pepper spice rating due to the extremely hot spice.

  • The Primal of Blood and Bone Chapters 1-3 by Jennifer Armentrout

In this episode, we dive into the first three chapters of the romantasy book The Primal of Blood and Bone by Jennifer Armentrout. Based on the author’s recommended reading order, this romantasy book should be read after the first five books in the Blood and Ash series and all of the books in the Flesh and Fire prequel series. Huge thanks to Jennifer Armentrout and her publisher for sharing this teaser of the first three chapters with everyone on social media before the full book’s release on September 23.

During this episode, we discuss the similarities between Poppy’s experience in stasis and Sera’s, how much we loved being proven right with some of our theories and how we wish we were wrong about other ones, the numerous breadcrumbs that Jennifer Armentrout has dropped and how they tie in to previous books in both series, why we’re confident that the full book is going to emotionally destroy us, and how we cannot wait to read the entire book. Plus, we chat about the theories we feel these first three chapters seem to confirm, what we theorize will happen in the rest of the book, and the unanswered questions that we feel like could play a major role.

P.S. We’ll be back with a full episode on the entire book, The Primal of Blood and Bone, on October 22.

  • Born of Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book Born of Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout. Based on the author’s recommended reading order, this romantasy book should be read after the first five books in the Blood and Ash series and the other three books in the Flesh and Fire prequel series. We have been absolutely loving this prequel series and seeing the journey of Nyktos and Sera come to life. Fingers crossed this isn’t he end of their journey and we’ll see them in The Primal of Blood and Bone.

During this episode, we chat about the authenticity of watching Sera work through her trauma, why we really hate the balance and how it seems to rarely impact Kolis, how Attes seems to always show up when he’s needed, how we loved seeing Kolis, Veses, and Kyn get what has been coming to them for a long time, and the incredible spice in this book that is on another level. Nyktos is definitely the greenest of green flags and at the top of our romantasy book boyfriend list. Plus, we fall down the rabbit hole and discuss where things stand with all of our theories. We’ve got receipts for them and are making some claims about what we think will happen in the next book, The Primal of Blood and Bone.

  • Visions of Flesh and Blood by Jennifer Armentrout with Ravyn Salvador

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book Visions of Flesh and Blood by Jennifer Armentrout and Ravyn Salvador. Based on the author’s recommended reading order, this romantasy book should be read after the first five books in the Blood and Ash series and the first three books in the Flesh and Fire prequel series. It’s a comprehensive companion guide for both series, told from Miss Willa’s point of view.

During this episode, we discuss the numerous insights that Miss Willa shares about each character that weren’t necessarily included in the previous books, why we believe some of the information she highlights are major breadcrumbs, how much we loved reading Miss Willa’s spicy diary entries, and why we’re even more convinced about some of our previous theories.

  • Only Between Us by Ellie K. Wilde

In this episode, we dive into the contemporary romance book Only Between Us by Ellie K. Wilde. This is the second book in her interconnected Oakwood Bay series. It also contains some of our favorite tropes, including sports romance, football romance, fake relationship, and one bed.

During this episode, we discuss how Brooks is at the very top of our romance book boyfriend list, why you have to really love fishing to work at a bait and tackle shop, how the banter between Brooks and Siena was exceptional, why we cannot wait to read the book about Parker and Summer,  and why we give this book a solid four pepper spice rating due to incredible spice.

  • A Fire in the Flesh by Jennifer Armentrout

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book A Fire in the Flesh by Jennifer Armentrout. Based on the author’s recommended reading order, this romantasy book should be read after the first five books in the Blood and Ash series and the first two books in the Flesh and Fire prequel series. We have been absolutely loving this prequel series and learning more about Nyktos and Sera’s journey.

During this episode, we discuss the emotional devastation that Sera experiences while being held captive by Kolis, why Attes deserves to be punched a few more times, how seriously screwed up Kolis and Callum are, why Kolis and Veses deserve each other, and why we’re giving this book four peppers for the spice. Plus, we dive even deeper into theories spanning both series and what we think may be really going on.

  • Only In Your Dreams by Ellie K. Wilde

In this episode, we dive into the contemporary romance book Only In Your Dreams by Ellie K. Wilde. This is the first book in her interconnected Oakwood Bay series. It also contains some of our favorite tropes, including friends to lovers, brother’s best friend, second chance, sports romance, football romance, fake relationship, soul mates, small town, and one bed.

During this episode, we discuss how Zac gives major Noah from The Notebook vibes, how we can relate to Melody being oblivious to how Connor treated her, why we’ve never felt more seen with the chapstick references (doesn’t everyone have multiple chapsticks in various locations?), how much we love Zac’s neverending support and love for Melody, the hilarious side characters we get to meet (and can’t wait to see more of in future books!), and why we give this book a solid four pepper spice rating due to incredible spice.
