When I started the Late To Grid podcast, Steve Jaworski's story is exactly what I hoped I would be able to share.

Steve was always a spectator at motorsports events, but then he  bought his dream car and  researched how to get on track.   He is now entering his third season of on-track activities and his enthusiasm and level of involvement is growing

In this Grid Walk episode I caught up with Jim Tramontano to hear about his 2022 Spec Miata season and learn more about how he spends his offseason.  We also talk about his 2023 plans which includes running with NASA North East  and getting to NASA Champs.

Jim runs the No Money Motorsports Blog which contains a lot of great articles to help readers learn more about grassroots racing.

Jason Pribyl joins Bill in the Atomic Autosports studio to share his motorsports journey.

Jason started racing karts at age 6, moved onto Lucas Oil School Of Racing at age 13 and then onto F1600 in 2019.

In 2022 Jason participated in the Road To Indy program and raced Spec MX-5.

His advice for someone who wants to get started is to look at karting and track days.

Like many other guests, Jason talks about the importance of networking.  As Jason builds his motorsports career, he looks for opportunities  to be at the track, to network, and be seen.  He shared some great advice - talk with everyone and be friends with everyone.

Being behind the wheel requires physical and mental fitness and Trey Shannon explains to our listeners how fitness plays an important role in making sure that drivers  are ready to be their best on track.  Trey is the Performance Director at PitFit Charlotte in Cornelius, NC.

As Trey prepared to complete in a 24 hour kart event he fell in love with the fitness and nutrition preparations that PitFit designed and implemented with him.  He was a full time engineer and started a side hustle of helping driver's with their fitness.  This side hustle provided top level motorsport performance training for drivers and crew and it eventually became Podium Performance, a full time endeavor.

Trey recommends sticking to the walls of the grocery store and explains this concept which is a very interesting.

When we recorded this episode it was just under two weeks before the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona and Trey and the team  have been getting almost two dozen drivers ready for the event.  How cool is that?

IMSA Michelin Pilot driver Luca Mars announces his exciting news about his LMP3 ride for the 2023 Daytona Rolex 24.  He'll be racing with the JDC Miller Motorsports team.  How cool is that?

In this episode of the podcast I welcome Eric Franz to the show.  Eric and I first met at the SCCA Enduro at Nelson Ledges, but we knew of each other prior to that.  As you'll hear in the episode Eric has grown in our sport quite a bit in the past seven years.  He started autocrossing and has since moved in to time trial events and endurance racing.

Eric shares some great advice for those looking to get into our sport.
