April Kidwell, writer & star of I, NOMI -- a one-woman satire based on SHOWGIRLS and I, TONYA -- joins Laura Heywood in studio.
But I had SEEN her onstage years before, when she played Jesse Spano in “BAYSIDE: The Saved by The Bell musical.”
She embodied Elizabeth Berkley’s character SO well that she has gone on to make a career out of playing the actress — not just in her squeaky clean morning television persona but more & more as the firey, misunderstood dancer Nomi Malone in Showgirls.
She portrayed Nomi in “Showgirls: The Musical” off-Broadway for more than two years, and has since created her own one-woman show, “I, Nomi” — which ran to rave reviews in San Francisco and begins a New York run at the Laurie Beechman theatre in July!
