Laurence Fishburne has revealed that filming The Matrix was "physically painful" and "arduous," contrasting it with the perceived ease of the sequel, The Matrix Reloaded. He explained that the initial film required extensive training for the actors to learn martial arts and wire work, which was a completely new and demanding experience for him. Fishburne particularly highlighted the physical toll of hanging in harnesses for long periods during the wire-fu sequences. Despite the discomfort, he noted that the cast and crew were driven by a shared vision to create something "special."
