Hello hello hello listeners. Happy New Year!! And welcome to the first episode of this year! As usual, I'm your host, Ebehi! It feels good to be back and I cant wait to share all the incredible things we have planned for this year!
Before we get into this episode, I have some exciting announcements.
First, this Friday, we will be introducing our annual event, DESIGN X COMMUNITY: Rethinking Public Spaces which will be a three part event that encourages the design community to become aware and create solutions for the people experiencing homelessness. Be sure to follow us on social media and keep tuning into our episodes to find out more about this event.
Our next announcement is that we've decided to launch a membership program for the podcast, where you have the chance to support us and the podcast directly. I personally love creating each episode, and it means the world to me that you all tune in to keep hearing me, week after week. But, it takes an immense amount of time and energy to produce. I want to keep the show going, while investing in its growth. And, I want you to be a partner with me in this journey. That's why I'm excited to give you the chance to officially become a supporter of the show at https://www.layersofdesign.online/support or by clicking the link in the show notes. It's quick and easy - it'll take less than 30 seconds. You don't have to create any new logins, and you can contribute as much or as little as you like. If this show is a part of your day or week, and you like what we're doing, please visit our website and support us any way you can, today. Once you're an insider, you'll get 10 minute exclusive episodes with our guests. Thank you for your support!
Finally, peep our intro music! This year, we're collaborating with up and coming Nigerian artists to share their beats and tunes with you all. This particular beat is produced by Doctunes aka Omzzi. And the song is by Eitokpah Henri-Paul Ehizokhai also known by the stage names Henri-Paul, Rødeman, or Bass, who is an African rapper, singer, writer, lawyer, entrepreneur, and actor.
Henri-Paul was born in Lagos, but raised in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory and the UK. He has released several singles in the past, and is currently putting together his debut EP which is set to drop in March 2021. This particular song is called Rambo and we are glad to collaborate with him.
I'll share more of the sound later in the episode.
Now, to todays episode....
Our first guest for this year is Nonyelum Ogbodo. She is a graduate student at the University of Miami in her final semester finishing dual degrees with a Masters of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Sustainable and Resilient Green Building and a Masters of Real Estate Development and Urbanism with concentration in Sports Venue Development. Amongst her many talents, she stands out to me as a true leader in her community who constantly contributes to improving the people around her and her environment in thoughtful ways. In this episode, she gives us a peak into her unique journey in the design industry. Keep listening to get truly inspired!
