Our current series, Big Questions, has us looking for answers to some of life’s most challenging questions. Last week we began to examine a crucial question, Does God really exist? How we answer that question has great ramifications on how we live our lives.
We say that everything that had a beginning had a cause. Since the universe had a beginning it had to have a cause as well. This cause had to be spaceless, timeless, immaterial, and powerful. Today, we will see that there is great evidence for design throughout the universe. And wherever there is a design, there is a designer. We will see that there is a great mind behind all of creation, and that great mind is God.
As we continue our series Big Questions, we come to the question, Does God really exist? How we answer this question greatly determines the course of our life. Today, we will see that there is not only great evidence for the existence of God, but that we can know Him and live in true relationship with the one who made us.
Questions, questions, questions. We all have them. Most of the questions we ask on a daily basis focus on navigating our daily lives. What time is the practice? When will you be home? What do you want to do for dinner?
Too often, the busyness of our lives keeps us moving at such a pace that we don't stop and ask deeper questions of ourselves. But, those big questions are there, just below the surface. Questions like, "Where did everything come from?", "What is the purpose of life?", "Does God exist?", "What happens when I die?" and so many others.
The world offers so many conflicting answers to these questions. How can we know what the truth is?
As we start our new series, Big Questions, we discuss the question of truth. What is truth? Is truth absolute? Why does truth matter? Can we know the truth? As we work through these questions together, we will find that in Christ, we indeed find the answer to every big question.
Have you ever wondered about life's most important questions? Does truth exist? Does God really exist? Do miracles happen? Is the New Testament reliable?
As believers, we must be prepared to share the reason for the hope we have. Have you ever felt as though you just couldn't express to people exactly why you believe what you do? If you have questions yourself, or are unsure how to defend your faith and share it with others, you won't want to miss our upcoming training course "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist."
This morning, we have a special guest speaker, Pastor Greg Keyton, who will be sharing with us the importance of being able to give "a reason for the hope that is in you."
"But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect," 1 Peter 3:15
Have you ever wanted to ask why, if God is supposed to be so good and loving, He allows trials and disappointments to come into your life? He has promised to bring good out of even the most difficult circumstances for those who are trusting in Him. Is it possible that the heart aches and disappointments in your life could be God’s mercies in disguise?
Life is piling up on the shoulders of realtor, Elizabeth Triste. Not only are there over drafted bank accounts, doctor bills and family issues, she has also been given a house that seems impossible to sell. In desperate need of holding onto her career and providing for her family, selling this house is her only chance. She is under the most stress she has been in a long time, slowly losing hope as each potential buyer turns her down. All it takes is one potential buyer to turn it all around and remind Elizabeth of all the beauty that there is to be found, when you just hold onto hope.
Hope is alive and hope has a name. That name is the NAME that is above every other. Jesus! He is our hope because He is alive! He wasn’t just a great teacher. He didn’t come just to set a good example for us. He didn’t come to try to make bad people better. He came to make we who were dead, alive. He came to be our Savior. Today we celebrate the foundational truth of our faith, that Jesus is alive!
Each of the gospels records a perspective of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem; however it is in one of the disciple’s account that we are most clearly able to catch a glimpse of Jesus’ humanity; His heart for those who are hurting, those who who broken: and for those who are lost.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Ever been on a road trip and had your kids ask this question over and over again? Didn't it drive you nuts? Didn't it make you wish that the trip was over? Or maybe you were the kid and you just couldn't wait to get to your destination. The anticipation was so intense that you just couldn't help asking, "are we there yet?" Today we will look at the Parable of the Unjust Judge or the Parable of the Persistent Widow. From it, we will learn a valuable lesson about the character and timing of God as it relates to our persevering in prayer.
