  • S2E8 - The Sports Cowboy : Kosha Irby, CMO

Jayzen is excited to welcome Kosha Irby to the show. Kosha has had an incredible career in sports marketing and the business of sports after starting as a student athlete. He is currently the CMO of Professional Bull Riders (PBR), and first to admit he’s not what people think of as a cowboy. He continues to be successful in leveraging his unique perspective to help expand the PBR brand.

People who experience a Lead With Your Brand workshop or keynote often want to explore more on how to put the system into action to benefit their career. A key aspect of this is understanding what your personal brand filters are and how best to use them. How can you complete any project in your “signature” way so that your colleagues and boss see your thumbprints all over it and know the value that you bring.

Kosha was hooked on the business of sports after a really unique entrepreneurial effort while a college athlete. His career stories are as insightful as they are entertaining, as he has worked around the world and brought his unique brand and perspective to every position he has had. Notably, he oversaw live event marketing and sales for WWE in several global markets.

    Guest Bio

    Kosha Irby

Kosha Irby (CO-Shay ER-BEE) currently serves as CMO & SVP Business Development and Consumer Events for Professional Bull Riders (PBR). He is responsible for all aspects of PBR’s consumer marketing and live event efforts.

Prior to joining PBR, Irby was Team President of the Memphis Express. In this role, he oversaw all business functions for the professional football club. Prior to that, Irby oversaw live event marketing and sales for various domestic and international markets on behalf of WWE, a publicly traded (NYSE: WWE) global media company.

Prior to joining WWE in 2011, Irby served in various senior marketing positions at Georgia State University, Saint Louis University and the University of South Florida.

Irby attended the University of Memphis (1996-01) and earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science in 2000 and his MBA in Marketing in 2001.

  • S2E7 - The Mad Cool Creative : Dr. Jennifer E. Turner, EVP TriStar Television

Jayzen is thrilled to welcome Dr. Jennifer Turner to the show. In addition to overseeing creative on some of the most iconic television shows we all love at Sony Pictures Television, Jennifer is also the founder of Mad Cool Fitness where she brings her love of storytelling and passion for fitness to help people transform their lives.

A common question from people starting to develop their personal brand is “What if my brand is different at work and at home?” The reality is that although there is always situational context, you are really just one brand. What’s important is to understand the value you add to any situation so that you can always bring your best authentic self to the table.

Jennifer has had an incredible career journey that has deeply intertwined her personal experiences, educational goals, creativity and passion to help those around her. As a self proclaimed “child of the golden age of television...the 80’s,” her work as a creative executive has crafted shows like The Good Doctor, The Blacklist and many others.

    Guest Bio

    Dr. Jennifer E. Turner

    EVP TriStar Television

Founder, MAD COOL FITNESS/MAD COOL COMMUNITY

Jennifer is a seasoned media executive who currently serves as EVP for TriStar Television overseeing creative on hit series such as The Good Doctor, The Boys and The Blacklist. In 2011, Jennifer combined her passion for fitness and desire to help others with her media background to found edutainment brand MAD COOL FITNESS (MCF), an inclusive, edutainment healthy lifestyle brand that helps people to achieve long-term good health through behavior science-based programs. MCF Programs are also based on Jennifer’s personal experience as someone who struggled with weight but has been living healthy for over 20 years.

To support her mission of health, Jennifer went back to school and received her Doctor of Public Health specializing in Health Education and Behavioral Science, from Rutgers School of Public Health. Her dissertation evaluated the Healthy Schools Program implementation at four, New Jersey, K-8 independent charter schools. Her research found factors impacting program implementation were the social determinants of health – access to healthcare, community context, socio-economics – the very same factors that are playing a role in COVID-19’s disproportionate effect on communities of color today. Jennifer also founded non-profit, MAD COOL COMMUNITY, to implement, design, and evaluate wellness programs in underserved communities. MAD COOL COMMUNITY is currently implementing a pilot mental and behavioral health program at a New Jersey charter school to address the wellness needs of parents, teachers, and students during this coronavirus pandemic. The wellness program is based on Jennifer’s dissertation research as well as the school population’s specific needs during this challenging time.

Jennifer holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University, a Bachelor of Finance from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Japanese Language also from the University of Pennsylvania. Jennifer is a New Jersey certified Teacher of Health Education N-12, an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified Youth Fitness Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Health Coach, Behavior Change Specialist, Group Fitness Instructor, and Personal Trainer. You’ve seen her on Top Chef Masters and on Food Network’s “Too Hot Tamales.” Susan is a great example of someone who extends her personal brand through everything she does, how she dresses and how she runs her company.

    Guest Bio

Iconic culinarian, author, and entrepreneur may be best known for her Modern Mexican concept, Border Grill restaurants, trucks, and catering, which she runs with her business partner of more than 35 years, Mary Sue Milliken. Now with locations in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Downtown LA, LAX Airport, The Huntington Library, and Rose Bowl, Border Grill continues to serve street food-inspired regional Mexican cuisine with a commitment to sustainability and the best quality ingredients. In June 2018, Feniger and Milliken debuted BBQ Mexicana, a fast casual eatery with locations at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas Ballpark, and most recently inside the new Allegiant Stadium. The chefs returned to Santa Monica with Socalo, an all-day California canteen and Mexican Pub, in December 2019.

After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in New York, she made a groundbreaking move in joining the nearly all-male kitchen at Chicago’s Le Perroquet, serendipitously meeting the only other woman in the kitchen—Mary Sue Milliken. After working for Wolfgang Puck at Ma Maison in L.A., Feniger went to the French Riviera to further hone her skills, and returned to open City Café with Milliken in 1981, forever changing L.A.’s culinary landscape by introducing eclectic dishes from around the world. That evolved into the larger CITY Restaurant in 1985—and the introduction of Border Grill as a simple spot for authentic home cooking and street foods of Mexico informed by the duo’s treks through the country. A James Beard Award that same year confirmed their impact on the nation’s cuisine.

Feniger and Milliken brought their innovative approaches to The Food Network with nearly 400 episodes of the “Too Hot Tamales” and “Tamales World Tour” series. They also were the original co-hosts of the popular food-centric radio show, KCRW’s “Good Food,” in L.A. Susan has co-authored six cookbooks, including Susan Feniger’s Street Food and competed on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” in 2010.

In 2018, Feniger and Milliken were named the recipients of the fourth annual Julia Child Award from The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, marking the first women to be honored. The distinction complements additional accolades, including the Elizabeth Burns Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Restaurant Association in 2013; earned induction into Menu Masters Hall of Fame in 2014; and the 2018 Gold Award from the Los Angeles Times for culinary excellence and innovation in Southern California.

Feniger is an active member of the community, and currently sits on the boards of the Scleroderma Research Foundation, L.A. LGBT Center, and L.A. Tourism & Conventions; works closely with Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, Share Our Strength, and Human Rights Campaign; and co-founded Chefs Collaborative.
