Leadership 101 - Teach Them How To Say Goodbye
"If I say goodbye, the nation learns to move on; It outlives me when I'm gone; Like the scripture says: Everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree, And no one shall make them afraid. They'll be safe in the nation we've made. I wanna sit under my own vine and fig tree; A moment alone in the shade. At home in this nation we've made...One last time." This line performed by Christopher Jackson playing George Washington in Hamilton just about sums up Episode 202 of The Launchcast. After the events at the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, this emergency episode was put together as a message to current and future leaders with a lesson from the OG leader.
Fair warning: the first 45 minutes of this episode is a commentary of my thoughts. The latter half of the episode is a FULL reading of George Washington's Farewell Address. Take a listen...this 225 year old document may prove much more relevant than you think. GW: taking us to school since the late 1700s.
