  • Raise Your Awareness To Make A Personal Difference (Leading In Life #21)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/LIL_21_personal_diff.mp3

    How are you showing up?
    Tamara and Tammy discuss the power of awareness with regards to how someone energetically shows up in situations. Being reflective and asking ourselves about the story we are telling in our own mind is important to raising our awareness and then choosing our own actions.
    One strategy these two coaches use is the T.E.A. Strategy.
    What is the Thought?
    What is the Emotion that thought is causing?
    What is the Action I am choosing as a result of the emotion?
    Is that Action benefiting me and those around me?
    .
    Anabolic and catabolic energy is not good and bad energy. It is energy that is moving one forward or holding one back. It is for each of us to decide the course one wants to take in a given situation. Awareness is key to this process, otherwise, one just goes down the path their emotions take them versus making conscious decisions.
    Tamara and Tammy discuss the difference between compliance and commitment. They reflect on “Doing it” and “Owning it” and the impact that has on the outcome. Are your true passions and values aligned to what you are doing?
    The journey these two ladies are referring to is one of becoming a Coach Centric Leader. Coach Centric Leadership is different than any other coaching or leadership program. Most programs focus on the “what” and the “how.” Coach Centric Leaders focus on the “who” as well. Here is a link to more information regarding this opportunity and how to be included:

  • Catabolic Energy (Leading In Life #20)

    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_catabolic_energy.mp3

    Tamara and Tammy talk about the draining effects of catabolic energy. They also remind us that everyone experiences catabolic energy.
    Some Characteristics of Level 1 Energy:

    * Low energy
    * Lack of commitment
    * Unproductive
    * Avoid decisions
    * Not confident
    * Have a pity party for self

    Some Characteristics of Level 2 Energy:

    * Do not trust others
    * Suppress the creativity of those around them
    * Argumentative – look to blame others
    * Make decisions – with the attitude of “My way is the right way.”
    * Confident to a fault
    * Focus on self
    * Things happen – but not sustainable

    What triggers catabolic energy for you? When do you experience it?
    It is empowering to release catabolic energy and take responsibility for your responses. One thing to remember is that a person can not take ownership of others’ reactions and emotions. One can only take responsibility of their own and can influence others with thoughts, words and actions – and showing up anabolically.
    Everyone experiences catabolic energy. Do not beat yourself up over it. Instead consider these three things:

    * Awareness – What am I experiencing and what triggered it?
    * Is the emotion or response is holding me back or moving me forward?
    * What action will I choose to take?

    “You are tearing down or building up in everything you do, are you on the construction team or are you on the wreaking crew?”

  • Enjoying The Present (Leading In Life #18)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_enjoying_the_present.mp3

    Often we worry about the future or we are sad about the past. Today let’s talk about enjoying the journey.
    Check out this quote, the author is unknown:
    “Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keep you very busy doing nothing…”
    Awareness is key. Worry is Level 1 energy. It is a place of inaction, self-doubt and fear. We have to become aware of when we are in the spin cycle of worry. That place where we are worrying about the outcome, what others may think, etc. and not taking action.
    Tamara found this awesome quote from Zig Ziglar…
    “F-E-A-R has two meanings:
    ‘Forget Everything And Run’ or
    ‘Face Everything And Rise.’
    The choice is yours.”
    If we think about that quote in the terms of the Seven Levels of Energy, those responses are two very different energy levels and outcomes.
    Forget Everything And Run is a Level 1 reaction
    Face Everything And Rise is a Level 5 response.
    So how do we “Enjoy the Present”…
    1. Release catabolic energy – enjoy the moment. Look at things as “It is what it is.” Be non-judgmental.
    2. Ask myself, “Is my response to this situation holding me back or moving me forward?”
    3. Stop analyzing the past and stop predicting the future.

  • Thoughts, Emotions and Actions (Leading In Life #16)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_thoughts_emotion_actions.mp3

    Thoughts, Emotions and Actions (T.E.A)
    Our thoughts drive our emotions and our emotions then cause us to act in a certain way.
    Thought:

    * What are you telling yourself?

    Emotion:

    * What are you feeling?
    * What is the trigger?

    Action:

    * How are you choosing to respond?
    * How will your response benefit you and those around you?

    The next time you face anything, wether at home or work, think about T.E.A? What level of energy will you utilize when responding?

  • The Power Of The Energy Leadership Index Assessment (Leading In Life #15)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_15.mp3

    We believe in “People before Programs.” This assessment aligns with that value. The ELI is an attitudinal assessment that measures an individual’s energy and engagement level in normal situations and when under stress. The assessment is not a predictor of leadership ability. It is a snapshot in time as to how our beliefs, assumptions and perceptions are impacting our energy and engagement in leadership and life. The assessment helps people become aware of their energy level is working for them or how it is causing them stress.
    Benefits to taking the ELI:

    Become aware of current energy levels and how our energy is impacting us under stress and in normal situations.
    During the hour long debrief, discover possible energy blocks that keep us from meeting our full potential.
    Provide hope. Realize I control whether I choose to react or respond to a situation.
    As an organization, the ability to look at collective results of a leadership team and the impact the energy levels are having on the culture of the organization. It is a great tool to see where everyone is and what energy is helping us achieve our organizational goals and what might be holding us back.

  • Judgment (Leading In Life #14)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_14_judgement.mp3
    If we lessen our judgment, we free up more energy space for focusing on taking more purposeful action for our family, personal and professional goals.
    Sometimes we not only judge others, but we also judge ourselves. It is important to…”Tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to sit down and shut up.” – Ann Bradford
    That negative self talk can limit ourselves or those that we lead, by talking ourselves out of taking action because we do not feel we are good enough or have the skills to do it.  Negative self talk can keep us from moving forward.
    Our judgment can limit our possibilities or the possibilities of those that we lead.  So consider reducing judgment in your life.  Here are five tips for reducing judgment:

    * Raise awareness.
    * Pay attention to your language.
    * Monitor your self talk.
    * Reflect on why you are judging the person or situation.
    * Practice saying…”It is what it is.”
    * Instead of judging, take purposeful action to move towards your goals and be curious.

  • What Pushes Your Buttons? (Leading In Life #13)
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/remarkablechatter/lil_13.mp3

    Everyone has triggers.  Some have more than others and some of the triggers (also called buttons) create catabolic energy. The key is to become aware of what triggers stress or drains energy.  The reality is everyone has buttons that WE allow others to push.
    Instead of feeling attacked when you are triggered, a key is to look through a level five lens of opportunity.  As leaders we have the responsibility to be good stewards of our time and withhold negative assumptions and judgments.

    * What core emotion is rising to the surface when you are triggered?
    * Where is the trigger coming from?  What is the opportunity for growth?
    * How might you address stressful situations when you are triggered through a level five lens?
    * How might you stop allowing others to push your buttons?

    Don’t own others’ emotions.  Each person has a choice of how to react or respond to a situation.  The way we address situations and triggers is different if you respond anabolically.
