There are two kinds of ideologies that change agents lead by 1. The ruler ideology and 2. The leader ideology. With these ideologies, you will understand the kind of change leaders pioneer.
The ruler-ideology creates change that serves the person in charge without minding how it impacts the people while the leader-ideology transforms the people into their true selves as the primary motivation towards change.

Change impacts people, and absolute change impacts them, absolutely. So, do not get so intoxicated with the change that you lose sight of how it impacts them
Both the leader and the people should feel great about the change as it should not be at the expense of the other.

In leadership, we will always naturally want to do what we can be proud of. Hence, both the leader and the people will desire the change they can be proud of.
Often, we let ego get in the way: 1. Leader's ego, and 2. People's ego, in the pursuit of change. So, sustainable change requires that the leader finds a common ground for the good of all.
Reflection: Are you letting your ego get in the way of the change you and the people you are leading have to experience?

The catalyst for change is a vision, which every leader ought to have. And to have a good compelling vision, the pioneering leader ought also to have foresight, insight, and hindsight.
So, for any meaningful change to happen, the people must see what the leader sees just the way he sees it. Hence, what the people see as the vision and how they see it cannot be overemphasized.

Only a transformed leader can transform the people and things. And a leader who seeks to bring about change ought to be a changed person.
So, before you begin the journey of sponsoring change, make sure you have been where you want to take the people to. This is because being a leader is about taking the people to where you have been.

When you set out to reduce leadership frictions, you should bear in mind the two transformations that ought to happen: 1. Transformation of the people. 2. Transformation of the environment that enables role play.
As the pioneer leader, bear in mind that transforming the people should be the driving force behind transforming the environment. So, when you transform the environment without transforming the people, inadvertently, the un-transformed people will destroy what you have built.

There are two polar ends of change: 1. Creative and 2. Destructive. And the rate of which depends on whether the intent is to create or to destroy.
It is easier to experience change due to destruction than creation. So, a leader, as well as the people, can easily know the polar ends of change they are experiencing by the ease with which it happens.
Reflection: Is the change you are sponsoring targeted at creating an enabling environment for the people to thrive or destroying it?

The change that comes by transforming the people you are leading takes time and follows a natural course, which should not be compromised because of the urgency to see the result.
It is like wanting a woman to be delivered of her baby before her due date because of the urgency to have a baby. However, you just have to wait for nine months to elapse because there is time for everything.
Reflections: Do you have an idea of the time it takes for the change you seek to manifest? Do you see yourself as somebody who is impatient in the face of change?
