Chapter 12: Indeed Allah has 100 names less one.

• How many names does Allah have?

o What is the proof?

o Does Allah have 99 names only?

Hadith 1:

"Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise." To count something means to know it by heart

We covered:

• The names of the narrators in the chain and their status.

• What was the full name of Abu Hurayrah?

o How many narrations did he narrate?

• In what manner should the Messenger of Allah be addressed?

• The difference between a messenger and a prophet is that:

o Popular difference: Messengers & Prophets both receive revelation, but only messengers are ordered to preach this.

o Strongest definition: messengers were given new revelation, whereas prophets continued the previous message.

o Messengers were sent to people who were opposed by most of their people, whereas prophets encountered less hostility.

• What does “ahsaahaa” mean?

o It means that you memorise the names and act upon them

Chapter 13: Asking Allah by His Names and seeking refuge in Him by His names.

Hadith 2:

The Prophet said, "When anyone of you goes to bed, he should dust it off thrice with the edge of his garment, and say: Bismika Rabbi wada'tu janbi, wa bika arfa'hu. In amsakta nafsi faghfir laha, wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfaz bihi 'ibadaka-s-salihin."

Explanation:

“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them” (Al-A'raf 7:180)

• We covered the names and backgrounds of the narrators of the hadith

• What is the link to the topic in this hadith?

• When making dua – one should use the relevant names of Allah

• Aayatul kursi should be recited 8 times during the day – when is that?

• Shaykhul Islam said that when a believer recited aayatul kursi, the magicians flying on their carpets would fall down.

• One should be aware of the du’aas (adhkaar / supplications) of the day and night.

• Knowing the meaning of the adhkaar increases your understanding of tawheed.

• Scholars have written entire books of adhkaar

Tadlees:

• Linguistically: to conceal or hide something

• There are two types:

o It can happen to the chain (i.e. the narrator makes it look like a particular way)

o It can be by obscuring the shaykh you narrate from (eg by mentioning characteristcs that he is not known for)

Parents should be weary, & teach their children the correct Islamic Creed and Methodology, save them from extremism and chaos. They should bring the youth to the scholars, seek knowledge from its proper sources, not from those with deviated ideologies

Chapter 10: The Statement of Allah: "Say: He is Al Qaadir”. (Al An’aam 6:65)

Today we covered:

• The All Encompassing Ability of Allaah

• Allaah is The Turner of the hearts

Explanation by Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen:

• The meaning of Allah’s name القَادِر Al Kaadir (The one with ability/all capable)

o Allah is all capable of every affair.

o There is nothing that can take away from the power and ability of Allah.

Hadeeth No.1

- Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: As-Salami: Allah's Apostle used to teach his companions to perform the prayer of Istikhara for each and every matter just as he used to teach them the Suras from the Quran He used to say, "If anyone of you intends to do something, he should offer a two rakat prayer other than the compulsory prayers, and after finishing it, he should say: O Allah! I consult You, for You have all knowledge, and appeal to You to support me with Your Power and ask for Your Bounty, for You are able to do things while I am not, and You know while I do not; and You are the Knower of the Unseen. O Allah If You know It this matter (name your matter) is good for me both at present and in the future, (or in my religion), in my this life and in the Hereafter, then fulfill it for me and make it easy for me, and then bestow Your Blessings on me in that matter. O Allah! If You know that this matter is not good for me in my religion, in my this life and in my coming Hereafter (or at present or in the future), then divert me from it and choose for me what is good wherever it may be, and make me be pleased with it." Chapter 11: The Turner of the hearts and The Statement of Allaah, the Most High:

“And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away (from guidance)”

o How Shaytaan comes to the person in their final moments.

o The explanation of the Jewish boy on his deathbed

o The du’aa of Prophet Ibrahim

- Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet frequently used to swear, "No, by the One Who turns the hearts."

There is no Muslim affected by an affliction, except that Allah wipes away from this person his sins, like the tree sheds its leaves. From wisdom is that a person who is afflicted with illnesses is that Allah raises a person by way of it.

Seek cure by the Quran: Legislated Ruqya, there is no harm in using remedies. The Messenger of Allah said "Use remedies but don't use haram remedies". Using remedies has a great benefit, for the afflicted person and his families, using remedies is from the means to acquiring a cure.

Tawakkul comprises of two affairs:

1. Reliance upon Allah

2. Taking the means

Allah is the one who created the cure and methods of healing. Cure comes from Allah alone, Allah is the one who makes remedies successful

Diseases are of 2 types, Heart and Body. Diseases of the hearts are 2 types: Shubuhaat (doubts) Shahawaat (desires) both are mentioned in the Quran. Shaykh Uthaymeen, said diseases of the heart are to be given precedence, due to them leading to the hellfire.

Ruqya, a person should recite Quran for their ownself, before asking someone else, someone else who is of sound aqeedah. Shaykh Fawzaan: Ruqya can be performed directly on the sick, or recited onto water they drink. The raaqi must be a person of sound aqeedah, not a person of shirk or innovation. Ruqya should be performed in Arabic, not in any other language or indiscernible utterances.

Shaykh Bin baz, importance should be given to Suraah Al Faatiha and suratun Naas, Suratul Falaq and Suratul Ikhlaas. Whoever wears an amulet, has fallen into shirk and has ascribed partners to Allah, everything that is haraam, then we can not use as a cure. We can not use khamr, intoxicants as a cure; marijuana, Alcohol etc.

Honey:

Regarding Honey: There comes forth from their bellies, a drink of varying colour wherein is healing for men. (An-Nahl 16:69)

Hijaamah:

There is a lot of emphasis in the Sunnah about it and is one of the best cures. The Angels told the prophet (peace be upon him) to command his nation with it. (Authenticated by al Albaani).
