  • Advice to New Muslims – Shaykh Uways at-Taweel
Advice to a brother who had just embraced Islām, by Shaykh Uways at-Taweel (hafidhahullāh)
    • Embracing Islām is a great blessing: it returns a person to the purpose of his creation, worshipping Allāh alone, and a creation that does not function according to its purpose suffers ill effects
    • Islām is the religion that Allāh has promised to preserve, perfect and free of contradiction: when trials come, remember this blessing and do not complain
    • Stay close to the brothers who will help you in seeking knowledge, and seek it with enthusiasm and consistency, following the way of the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions
    • "All the children of Ādam err, and the best of those who err are those who repent" (ḥadīth of Anas): being a Muslim does not mean being perfect
    • Protecting yourself from sin by good company, duʿāʾ, and seeking knowledge and acting upon it

  • The Khawārij of Today – ISIS and the Warnings of the Messenger ﷺ – Shaykh Abdulilah Lahmami
The Khawārij of Today – ISIS and the Warnings of the Messenger ﷺ, a lecture by Shaykh Abdulilah Lahmami (hafidhahullāh)
    • Why young people are joining ISIS, Jabhat an-Nuṣrah and al-Qāʿidah, and what the Messenger ﷺ said about the foolish young men of the last days
    • The traits of the Khawārij from the aḥādīth, and how today's groups match them
    • The Dīn is complete; the verse of Sūrat al-Baqarah on the one whose speech impresses you while he is the most quarrelsome of opponents
    • The Khawārij make takfīr of Muslims and of one another: "kufr dūna kufr" in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and the statement of al-Awzāʿī to hold to the narrations of the Salaf
    • "Judgement belongs to Allāh alone", the call of the Khawārij, and the answer to it
    • The ḥadīth of the people who recite the Qurʾān yet "pass through Islam like an arrow through its target", and the boast of the Khawārij of armies of "hungry lions" in Iraq and Shām whose drink is blood
    • Killing innocent people in this country: 7/7, why this is not a land of war, and how the Messenger ﷺ taught us to live among the disbelievers

  • Lesson 16 – 40 Ḥadīth of Imām an-Nawawī (Islām Teesside) – Shaykh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq
40 Ḥadīth of Imām an-Nawawī (Islam Teesside), taught by Shaykh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullāh)
    • Continuing the 7th ḥadīth, of Tamīm ad-Dārī: "The religion is naṣīḥah", with the explanation of Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh (hafidhahullāh)
    • Recap: naṣīḥah to Allāh, His Book and His Messenger is fulfilling the rights owed to them, and naṣīḥah to the rulers includes obeying them in good, supplicating for them and not rebelling
    • Sincere advice to the rulers is one of their rights
    • The meaning of "aʾimmah" and "wulāt al-amr": the rightly guided caliphs were both rulers and scholars, and after them the term came to include the scholars and the rulers
    • Naṣīḥah to the common Muslims: every mutual right between Muslims enters into it, and whoever falls short in what Allāh commanded has fallen short in naṣīḥah
    • Beginning Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn's (raḥimahullāh) explanation: naṣīḥah to the Book of Allāh is believing its reports, following its commands, avoiding its prohibitions, holding its rulings to be the best, and believing it is Allāh's speech in letter and meaning

  • Ramaḍān Reminders 2017: A Warning Against Following the Footsteps of Shayṭān – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
Ramaḍān Reminders 1438H: nightly reminders after Tarāwīḥ, by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)
    • "O you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Shayṭān": Allāh addresses the believers, commanding what leads to Paradise and forbidding what leads to the Fire, with the explanation of Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (hafidhahullāh)
    • Allāh is free of any need of His servants: if all of creation disbelieved it would take nothing from His dominion, and if all believed it would add nothing to it
    • Obedience benefits only the servant, and so does harm: it all returns to him
    • Those whose hearts do not understand, whose eyes do not see and whose ears do not hear what benefits them, like cattle
    • Every person answers one of two callers, the call of Allāh or the call of Shayṭān; whoever preserves the obligations and strives in the voluntary acts has answered Allāh
    • Whoever is persisting in sin should repent now, before death comes, and free himself from Shayṭān

  • Lesson 87 – al-ʿAqīdah aṭ-Ṭaḥāwiyyah – Shaykh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq
al-ʿAqīdah aṭ-Ṭaḥāwiyyah, taught by Shaykh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullāh)
    • A new section: aṭ-Ṭaḥāwī's statement "We hold wiping over the khuffs, when travelling and when resident, as has come in the narration"
    • Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalī (raḥimahullāh): three days and nights for the traveller and a day and a night for the resident, if the socks were put on with wuḍūʾ; janābah still requires ghusl
    • The Rāfiḍah reject wiping over the khuffs, which is why it is mentioned in the books of creed
    • Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh (hafidhahullāh): the narrations are mutawātir, from around eighty Companions, and wiping over ordinary socks (al-jawrabayn) is also reported from the Companions
    • "Ḥajj and jihād continue with those in authority": jihād is waged under a Muslim ruler with authority and an army, not by Khawārij groups such as al-Qāʿidah and ISIS
    • When jihād becomes obligatory on every individual, such as when the ruler calls a person to it or he is present when the battle begins; otherwise it is a communal obligation with conditions of strength and clear leadership
    • Ḥajj is performed behind the rulers whether righteous or sinful, as the Companions did behind al-Ḥajjāj ibn Yūsuf

  • Advice to the Children on Seeking Knowledge – Ustādh Abdul Hakeem Mitchell
Advice to the children on seeking knowledge, a talk by Ustādh Abdul Hakeem Mitchell (hafidhahullāh)
    • Taqwā is of three types: doing righteous actions, staying away from the ḥarām, and staying away from doubtful matters
    • Each type needs knowledge of the Qurʾān and the Sunnah: you cannot pray correctly without knowing wuḍūʾ and the way the Prophet ﷺ prayed
    • Knowing that Allāh exists is not enough: the polytheists also knew that Allāh created the heavens and the earth, yet that did not make them Muslims
    • The knowledge to seek: knowledge of Allāh, the Prophets and the six pillars of īmān, then the actions of Islām, beginning with the prayer
    • Keep attending the lessons and be consistent: take the seeking of knowledge seriously, then enjoy your play afterwards

    • The last ten nights are the most virtuous and blessed part of the most virtuous month, containing Laylat al-Qadr
    • The ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā): the Prophet ﷺ exerted himself in the last ten nights, revived the night, woke his family and tightened his waist-wrapper

    • Charity in Ramaḍān, and Shaykh al-Fawzān's (hafidhahullāh) reminder that wealth is only a loan and a trust: spend it before death

    • Using our blessings in what pleases the One who gave them, and remembering that wealth is a trust from Allāh

  • Khuṭbah: The Five Questions on the Day of Judgement – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
The Five Questions on the Day of Judgement, a Jumuʿah khuṭbah by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)
    • Taqwā of Allāh is honour and success in this world and the Hereafter, and the best provision
    • We prepare for a worldly exam without lifting an eyelid, yet neglect to prepare for the questioning of the Day of Judgement
    • The Salaf and the man of sixty: "Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn" means we are slaves of Allāh who will return to Him and be questioned, so prepare an answer: rectify what is left of your life and you will be forgiven what has passed
    • The five questions: about our life, our youth, our wealth (how it was earned and how it was spent) and what we did with our knowledge
    • The knowledge includes what we heard in the khuṭbah and lessons and read in the Qurʾān: how much of it did we implement?
    • The answers are the reality of our lives and actions, so prepare ourselves and our children

Ramaḍān Reminders 1438H: nightly reminders after Tarāwīḥ, by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)
    • Laylat al-Qadr is the most virtuous night of the year: the Qurʾān was revealed in it, Allāh decrees the coming year in it, and it is better than a thousand months (over 83 years)
    • Shaykh al-Fawzān (hafidhahullāh) on its great status and the descriptions Allāh has given it
    • Whoever strives throughout the last ten nights will attain its reward, even if he does not see its signs (Shaykh Ibn Bāz, raḥimahullāh)
    • Iʿtikāf in the masjid, and its permissibility for women where it is safe and dignified, as the wives of the Prophet ﷺ did after him
    • This may be our last opportunity: following the Prophet ﷺ in striving in these nights and waking our families
