Sometimes the reason our message can be misconstrued is because, we don't share the same knowledge as the person we are speaking too.
When we can understand the Bank Of Prior Knowledge (BOPK) of the person we are delivering our message to we have an increasingly better ability to get our message across.
If you start at a point that they do not have any experience or knowledge in, how can you expect them to follow along and understand as you progress further.
So start by simplifying your message and understand the BOPK of your audience.
Got a short one today.
Get to spend some time with the family.
Let me know if you want some free training, we got it.
The ability to connect with each other across the world is nothing short of amazing.
The downside, can be when you are completely reliant on it to perform your tasks.
When my computer froze today during a podcast class, I had to do some damage control.
I was bound by the chains of the internet speed. It was too slow for me.
After it finally caught up, life went on as normal. Sometimes...
The internet is both a blessing and a curse.
What traditions do you have?
Do you know why you have them?
Are they helping you?
Are they hurting you?
Although yo may have certain traditions, you may want to re-evaluate them
Just because they are tradition doesn't mean they are helping.
The more we do a certain thing the more comfortable we become.
The challenge is, the more comfortable we become. the more likely we are to overlook something and make an error.
Kind of seems strange doesn't it? The more you do something and the more comfortable you get, the more likely you are to make a mistake?
That is because we no longer take all of the precautions necessary.
This happened to me last week. During a very important and serious interview, I overlooked one of the essential parts of recording my podcast.
The result, the quality of the podcast suffered and I felt that I let the listeners and the guest down. Because, although his message got out and it was clear, the quality of my recording wasn't there.
All because I was comfortable in what I was doing.
Today's episode is part 2 of the interview that I had with Scott Mendell about depression and suicide. The first episode he got a little deep little dark where he was talking about how he suffered from depression and also how thoughts of suicide went through his head.
In this episode we're going to go a little bit more onto the ideas that he has and the, the tips and tricks that he's used to battle depression and overcome and dig himself out of those dark places as well as talking about how people should feel that aren't directly affected by depression but how they can help and how if maybe your friend is depressed, how can you help them or if they're suicidal, how can you help them?
“Depression”
It can be a dark, lonely place that isolates you from everything you have ever cared about, rendering you unrecognizable.
Making it feel like there is no way out, no end in sight.
It can leave you paralyzed on your couch, staring up at the rafters above, looking for the “strong points”.
The ones strong enough to support your rapidly falling body, without crashing in.
Because the last thing you want is to fail, and have the ceiling fall in.
Crushing you but not finishing the job, forcing you to live with the failure..
You can feel each fiber of the rope slide through your hands as you look up to contemplate where you will fasten it.
Then you hear a knock at the door…
“Hi Scott, will you come watch my game? We need some help learning how to play”.
Then you think to yourself…
“I guess it couldn’t kill me”
And just like that, you have another chance at life.
_______
During this time we felt it was important to share Scott’s story with as many as we could.
So I’m releasing a 2-part interview episode about his battle with depression and what he has done to battle it.
This is part 1 of his story.

The older I get the more I realize the incredible ways that one can make a living.
The last couple of days I watched the document that everyone has been talking about recently.
Tiger King.
I'm always fascinated by the number of ways to make an income. There are jobs out there that I never knew were available. This is one of them.
The story involved is a crazy one, and if you get a chance to watch it, I highly recommend you do.
When we continue to learn, the more ideas that are available to us.
Think about if you wanted to start a band and you only listened to one type of music.
You would likely only create that genre.
Now, if you listened to 10 types of music, you would have more opportunity to create more styles.
So keep learning, keep sharing, and keep creating.
The Law of Attraction, My Daughter, and Park Place.
I'm doubling down on learning a skill or creating something.
