Budapest

Emellett neves gyógyfürdőváros is.

A szolgáltatási ágazatban nagy jelentőségű a turizmusra épülő vendéglátóipar.

Budapest

Budapest is the capital of Hungary, its biggest city and its political, economic and cultural center. Besides all of this, it is a renowned city of thermal baths. It's situated on the two banks of the Danube, where the Great Plain and the mountains meet. These geographic characteristics mark it as the capital with one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, being called Aquincum during the Roman era, then becoming the royal residence in the middle ages. In 1873 the three cities, Pest, Buda and Óbuda, which had been separate, were unified. It became a real metropolis in the twentieth century; in the 1950s with the joining of several small settlements around the city, it grew 2.5 times. Today, Budapest has 23 districts and a population of 1.7 million.

On the right bank of the Danube, right by the feet of the Buda mountains is Buda, which is more of a residential area, while Pest on the left bank is a commercial and industrial center. There are three islands in the Danube in Budapest—the biggest one is Csepel Island, north of this is Margaret Island–today a park area with a rich cultural heritage—and finally we get to the island that accommodates the internationally renowned Sziget festival, the Hajógyári (Shipyard) Island. There are seven bridges on the Danube here, most famous of which is the Chain Bridge, built in 1849.

Traditionally, Budapest was an industrial city, but this is falling back slowly and the main industries in the cit [...]
