올해의 최저임금이 작년에 비해 16.4% 인상됨에 따라 저임금 노동자의 소득이 증가되어 소득 양극화 현상이 완화되고 내수 경제가 활성화 되는 것을 기대하는 이들이 있는가 하면,
1,060원이라는 비교적 큰 인상폭으로 인한 어려움을 토로하는 자영업자 사업주와, '최저임금 인상 꼼수'로 몸살을 앓고 있는 노동자, 그리고 들썩이는 물가에 대한 걱정을 표하는 이들이 의견이 더해져
2018년도 최저임금에 대한 견해차가 분분한 상황입니다.
국내 아르바이트 포털 알바몬이 자영업자 304명을 대상으로 '2018년 아르바이트 채용 계획'에 대해 조사한 결과, 응답자 중 80.9%가 2018년 최저임금이 높다고 느끼며, 79.3%가 '최저임금 인상으로 인해 아르바이트 채용이 줄어들 것이다'고 예상하였습니다.
실제로 취업포털 인크루트가 운영하는 아르바이트 앱 알바콜이 점주 및 고용주 189명을 대상으로 1월에 진행한 설문조사에 따르면 "최저임금이 사업운영에 어떤 영향을 끼쳤느냐?"는 질문에 "기존 알바생 축소를 고려한다"는 응답이 21%로 제일 높았으며,
'외식-음료' 업종이 시급인상으로 인해 가장 많은 고용상의 영향을 받았다는 결과가 도출되어 소상공인 사업주의 경영난과 아르바이트생의 구직난이 조명되었습니다.
그에 더해 시민단체 '직장갑질 119'는 노동자의 동의 없이 일방적으로 시급에 포함되지 않는 휴게시간을 늘려 근로시간을 단축하고,
식대 및 교통비 삭감과, 상여금을 기본급으로 전환하는 등의 방식으로 임금을 줄이는 '최저임금 꼼수'에 대한 제보가 계속되고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
이에 따라 고용노동부는 인상된 2018년 최저임금에 이와 같은 편법으로 대응하는 일부 사업주의 행위를 시정하기 위해 최저임금 신고센터를 개설하였으며,
제시된 사항에 충족되는 사업장에 근로자 한 명당 월 13만원을 지원하는 '일자리 안정자금' 제도를 시행하여 최저임금 인상으로 인한 경영 부담을 완화하고 노동자의 고용안정을 꾀하였습니다.

This is the amount of the minimum wage set for the year of 2018 by the Minimum Wage Commission.
The minimum wage in Korea was increased by 16.4% compared to last year, and some think that the raise will result in the decrease of income polarization and stimulation of the domestic market as the overall income of low-wage workers increases.
But on the other hand, there are many sole proprietors who are speaking out about the difficulties they are faced with due to the 1,060 won raise, which is considered relatively large compared to past years, workers suffering from "minimum wage tricks", and that citizens are concerned about inflation.
Thus it is clear there has been conflicting opinions on the 2018 minimum wage.
A part-time job website, Albamon, surveyed 304 sole proprietors regarding the "2018 part-time recruitment plan"; 80.9% of the surveyees answered they view the 2018 minimum wage overly high and 79.3% predicted that recruitment rates for part-time employment will decrease.
In fact, when Albacall — a mobile application developed by the recruitment site Incruit — conducted a survey in January asking 189 sole proprietors how the minimum wage affected their business, the most common answer made by 21% of the respondents was that they are considering dismissal of some of their current employees.
Also, it was revealed that food and beverage businesses received the largest negative impact from the minimum wage increase, which is reflected in financial difficulties for business owners and difficulties of getting a job for part-time job seekers.
In addition to that, a civic group named "Workplace Unfairness 119" stated they had constant reports of "minimum wage tricks" where employers shortened work hours by lengthening unpaid break times without any prior consent,
and reduced labor costs by cutting down meal and transportation allowances and counting a bonus as a part of the base pay.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Employment and Labor established a Minimum Wage Report Center to counteract such unfair minimum wage tricks schemed by a number of employers,
...and also launched the "Employment Stability Fund" system — which provides 130,000 won per worker to businesses that qualify — in order to ease the burden of paying the increased minimum wage and to stabilize employement.
