Kiedy mowa o erze punkrocka w Polsce, nie można nie wspomnieć o Siekierze. W okresie swojego istnienia w latach 1982-1988, grali bardzo agresywną muzykę, przy której publiczność w Polsce i w świecie szalała, a ostre teksty mogły zawstydzić nawet szewca.
Na początku istnienia zespół nosił nazwę Trafo i składał się z następujących członków - Tomasz Budzyński (wokal, czy raczej wrzask), Irek „Borys” Czerniak (perkusja), Jerzy Janaczek (gitara basowa) i Tomasz Adamski (gitara). Postanowili zmienić nazwę, gdy pewien przypadkowy uczestnik koncertu powiedział, że ich muzyka brzmi jak siekiera. Tak więc zmienili nazwę na Siekiera. Z czasem zmienili się także członkowie grupy, chociaż rola lidera zawsze spoczywała na Adamskim.
Zespół słynął głównie z niesamowitych pokazów na koncertach. Pierwszy oficjalny koncert dali w 1984 roku w Remoncie w Warszawie. W 1986 roku Siekiera wydała swój pierwszy i jedyny album studyjny, „Nowa Aleksandria”, a w roku 1988 zespół został oficjalnie rozwiązany. W pewnym momencie pojawiły się pogłoski na temat reaktywacji zespołu w oryginalnym składzie, jednak nigdy do tego nie doszło.

Siekiera
When people think of the punk-rock era in Poland, the band that always comes to mind is Siekiera. During its six-year run from 1982 to 1988, the people of Poland and the rest of the world rocked out to its music, which featured one of the most aggressive styles around at the time—fast, with lyrics that would make a sailor blush.
When the band first started, it was known as Trafo, and its members were Tomasz Budzynski, who did the singing, or screaming; Irek "Borys" Czerniak on drums; Jerzy Janaczek on bass guitar; and Tomasz Adamski on lead guitar. They decided to change their name after a random guy at one of their concerts said their music sounded like an axe; because of that guy, they nixed their original name and went with Siekiera, Polish for "axe." Over time, the band's members changed too, yet Adamski was always around as leader.
The band was primarily known for its awesome live shows, of which the first official one came in 1984 at the Remont club in Warsaw. In 1986, the band released its one and only studio album, titled "Nowa Aleksandria," and in 1988, it officially broke up. At some point, there were rumors that the band was thinking about coming back together with its original crew, but that never came to fruition.
