Akcja filmu „Pianista” z 2002 roku dzieje się podczas II Wojny Światowej, w czasie, gdy warszawscy Żydzi zostali przymusowo zamknięci w getcie. Postać głównego bohatera - Władysława Szpilmana, żydowskiego pianisty grającego w Radiu Warszawa – odtwarza Adrien Brody. „Pianistę” wyreżyserował Roman Polański, a inni występujący tu znani aktorzy to Thomas Kretschmann i Frank Finlay. Akcja filmu jest oparta na wspomnieniach Władysława Szpilmana, prawdziwego żydowskiego kompozytora, który przeżył II Wojnę Światową w Polsce.

Film rozpoczyna się w momencie wybuchu II Wojny Światowej i napaści Niemiec na Polskę. Film stanowi kronikę życia polskich Żydów w czasie wojny—od opasek, które musieli nosić na ramionach po wszystkie karygodne czyny popełnianych wobec nich. Po tym, jak Żydzi zostają siłą zamknięci w warszawskim getcie, Szpilman uczestniczy w przygotowaniach do powstania, które kończy się masakrą Żydów.

Szpilman ukrywa się poza murami getta, leczy gdy Warszawa zostaje dosłownie zrównana z ziemią, pozostaje sam na gruzach swojego miasta. Odnajduje go pewien niemiecki dowódca i gdy odkrywa, że Szpilman jest pianistą, prosi go o grę. Dowódca postanawia utrzymać go przy życiu i nawet dostarcza mu jedzenie.

Po zakończeniu II Wojny Światowej, niemiecki dowódca zostaje uwięziony i przypadkowo podsłuchuje rozmowę uwolnionych Polaków. Jeden z nich mówi, że jest muzykiem, a wtedy dowódca opowiada mu o tym, jak pomagał Szpilmanowi i prosi o przekazanie mu wiadomości. Szpilman, chcąc pomóc Niemcowi, dociera do obozu jenieckiego, ale jest już za późno. Więźniowie zostali przeniesieni w nieznane miejsce.

"The Pianist"

The 2002 film "The Pianist" takes place during World War II when Polish Jews were forced into the Warsaw ghetto. The film stars Adrien Brody as Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Jewish pianist employed by Warsaw Radio. Roman Polanski directed the film, which stars Thomas Kretschmann and Frank Finlay. The movie is actually based on the memoirs of Wladyslaw Szpilman, a real Jewish composer who survived World War II in Poland.

The movie begins at the beginning of World War II, and Germany invades Poland soon after. It chronicles the life of the Jewish people in Poland at that time, from the armbands they had to wear to all the travesties that were perpetrated against them. The Jews were then forced into the Warsaw ghetto, where Szpilman helps plan the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which led to a massacre of the Jews there.

He goes into hiding outside the ghetto, but when Warsaw is virtually flattened by fighting, he is left virtually alone in the ruins of the city. A German commander discovers him living there and asks Szpilman to play the piano for him when he learns that he is a pianist. This moves the commander to allow Szpilman to keep living there and to bring him food on a regular basis.

After World War II ends, the commander is a captive, and he overhears a group of Poles who have been freed. One of them talks about being a musician, and the commander tells the musician that he helped Szpilman in the past and asks whether Szpilman might return the favor. Szpilman does go to the prison camp to help the commander, but he is too late, for the prisoners have already been moved to an undisclosed location.
