Singer/Songwriter and Rock Legend Chan Poling needs little introduction. For music fans (especially those in Minnesota), Chan’s legacy is well-known as lead Singer of The Suburbs and most recently as part of The New Standards trio. The Legacy Matters crew delves into Chan’s world, including his musical start as a budding pianist, his love for ancient history, why he wishes he could be a baker, and his passion for golf. Recently wrapping up the ever-popular holiday series with The New Standards, Sarah asks Chan for the background on the Yetis on-stage, his banter with John Munson, and the surprise guest appearance of actor John C. The work of artist David Rathman is equal parts captivating and thought-provoking. Drawing from old Americana and the Old West, David’s work starts with a photograph captured from a movie and then rendered into beautiful watercolor. He often combines words and quotes with his art, opening up a world of interpretation for the viewer. David chats with us about his artistic journey, how we should trust our impulse of things that inspire us, and making his mark on the art world.
