The book of Exodus recounts how the Israelites marked their doorposts with the blood of a sacrificial lamb so that God’s judgment would pass over their homes while falling upon Egypt.
As significant as this moment was for God’s Old Covenant people, it ultimately pointed beyond itself to a greater Passover—one in which we are spared judgment not by the blood of lambs, but by the blood of the true Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, whose atoning death secures our redemption.
