After revealing how the rulers in Israel were plotting howthey could murder Jesus, Matthew gave us two examples that showed vary different responses to Jesus, so close to His crucifixion. The unnamed woman in the houseof Simon the Leper, and Judas Iscariot.

The unnamed woman’s actions proved that she knew, loved, and valued Jesus above any earthly possession. Her act of kindness is remembered throughout the centuries. Judas’ actions proved he saw Jesus only as a means to what was truly important to him. He is remembered as the definition of treachery and betrayal.

At the end of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus warned His disciples about the universal judgment of mankind that would follow the Son of Man's return at the end of the age.

In Part 1, we focused on the reality of that coming judgment. Here in Part two, we looked at the evidence that will be used to make that judgment. We see that Jesus taught that the way we show that we love Him is by loving and serving one another within the body of Christ, the church.

In the final section of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus gave Hisdisciples a preview of the final judgment of mankind when the Son of Man returned at the end of the age and sat on His glorious throne.

This scene shows the fulfillment of Daniel’s propheticvision, and gives us a good launching point to study the future judgment. We can quickly see why Jesus was so adamant that His disciples be always ready.

In the Olivet Discourse Jesus explained that no one wouldknow when the Son of Man was going to return. There would be no signs or warning. He could come at any moment. He also taught that His return might be delayed for a long time. His disciples had work to do while He was away.

In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus taught His disciples whatit means for Christians to be faithful slaves of our Lord and Master during this age until He comes again.
