I have returned to Hearthstone as an extremely casual player after too long of a hiatus. It has been so awesome discovering this podcast because of it. I never feel out of the loop when Vastidious & Espo review new cards. They explain things well without wasting any time. And it is also helping me learn how to play more competitively (while still keeping cash in my wallet). And I can also watch Espo play on Twitch (so helpful to see the cards they review in action). Very good show! Will continue to listen and watch!

Unfortunately i can’t really recommend this podcast to anyone. It advertises itself as a podcast for the casual players but i think it’s actually dangerous for those players because it contains so much misinformation so if you’re casual player you don’t have the knowledge to judge which parts of the info provided is incorrect and which is ok. For the more invested player it provides nothing you could not get better from elsewhere. Hosts are most of the time unprepared on simple things like card names or effects. Good thing is they fixed a lot of the audio issues lately.

A while back you featured one of my old klepto priest decks on the show after Espo issued a “fun deck challenge” (I really wish this would become a weekly segment, btw).  Since K&C, thief priest is more fun than ever.  Here is my latest rendition, it’s easier to play than the Tinkmaster version from last spring and usually rolls right over the control demonlock decks currently taking over the meta.  Patience is key.  Mulligan for potion of madness and youthful brewmaster for an explosive start.  Save one Alchemist for Marin.  #funguaranteed

    Wacky Waxy Winter’s Veil
Greatfather Kobold got a little carried away with the presents. He’s wrapped up the strongest creatures and heroes in Azeroth! Free them!
    How it Works

    Create your own deck!
Before turns start, Greatfather Kobold drops presents on both sides of the field – Large Waxy Gift.
Defeating a gift on the opposing side of the field gives you a random Legendary which costs three fewer mana to play.
Later in the game, more presents will be parachuted in.

Rewards : 3 Frozen Throne packs
Tech Cards: Minions and spells that swap Health and spells that evolve your minions
    KaC: Warlock
Vulgar Homonculus – One of the better cards for Warlock. Auto include in almost every deck, except those that use Prince Keleseth. Great card to play early game.
Kobold Librarian – Mixed thoughts. It’s often thought of as the Warlock hero power for 1 mana plus a body. However, it costs you a card to use it. And depending on what you have going on you might need to conserve health. Oh and it feeds into Amethyst Spellstone.
Dark Pact – A lot of healing, something that Warlock players have asked for forever, and for only 1 mana! Also great for cracking eggs! However, it depends on if your deck has minions you are willing to sacrifice to recover your health. Also could combo well with Carnivorous Cubing your Doomguard, then Dark Pact on the Cube?
Amethyst Spellstone – Warlock has lots of options to deal damage to themselves now. So this is fairly easy to trigger the upgrade. Works really well with the Kobold Librarian.
Possessed Lackey – Very expensive for what it does. There are a bunch more demons you might want to play instead. Best if you are able to pull a Voidlord or Doomguard.
Hooked Reaver – It’s a 4 mana 7/7 with taunt, that doesn’t rely on another card to give it Taunt. Could be quite a tempo changer if you get low on health. Brings back the Handlock mindset.
Voidlord – Lots of synergy with late game cards and has the potential to be pulled early. However it’s really expensive and if you make it that far into the game, you might be ok without it.  Think of it this way. It’s like Wobbling Runts with Voidwalkers. Same stats as 3 Voidwalkers and when you kill it, it spawns 3 Voidwalkers. And synergizes with Master Oakheart?
Cataclysm – Lakkari Sacrifice, Silverware Golem, Melchezzar’s Imp and Clutchmother Zavas make this potentially viable. You can complete the quest on turn 4, by only using your hero power to that turn.
Rin, the first disciple – One of the most expensive cards ever, to get the final result (41 mana). AND is super useless if silenced. However, can be devastating to your opponent if you can pull it off.
Skull of the Man’ari – One negative is on turn 5 you do nothing for 5 mana then have your opponent play a weapon removal card. However, if you get to benefit, it “could” have great results or it “might” not because of RNG.
    Hints and Tips
Crafting new cards – we should see a few more free packs coming in and still are trying to figure out the popular cards.  Play with what you have, and wait another week or so to see what cards rise to the top.

Master Chest – 3 mana, 0/8 token, Deathrattle: Give your opponent a fantastic Treasure.
Fantastic Treasures (all cost 3 mana):

Golden Kobold – 6/6 minion, Taunt. Battlecry: Replace your hand with Legendary Minions.

Upcoming visual changes to Legendary/non-collectible cards

You might have noticed that Marin the Fox’s Master Chest, lacks a rarity gem for a Legendary even though it contains the silver dragon portrait adornment. This is how non-collectible Legendary cards will be going forward.
Rend Blackhand currently only targets Legendary cards which have the gem, and will be updated with the new expansion to target based on the silver dragon.
The orange gem will only be present on all collectible Legendary cards.
Silver Dragon will be present on all Legendary cards.
Non-legendary cards will have these changes too, no rarity gem for non-collectible cards.
Legendary weapons, like Ashbringer, will also lose their rarity gem and have a silver dragon.

Twitch Prime members can now redeem a Golden Classic Hearthstone pack until January 9th of next year.

    Pack contains 5 golden cards
Will not follow any pity timer rules
And you get the pack on every Hearthstone region!
And the Twitch page shows that in January, Twitch Prime members will get 2 more packs. Maybe expansion versions?

    Blizzcon Wrap-up
So what happened at BlizzCon?  As expected, the newest expansion was announced. Kobolds and Catacombs!

Releases in December. No specific date at this time.
Card reveals will start on November 20th
Pre-order is now available. $49.99 50 packs and a special card back.
    135 new cards
All classes are getting a Legendary Weapon and a Legendary Minion
Recruit is a new keyword which summons minions from your deck based on criteria and puts it in play.
We already talked about Marin the Fox earlier.
Logging in when the expansion goes live in December will give you a free, random Legendary weapon.
And there will be no balance changes with the launch of Kobolds and Catacombs.
Dungeon Runs are a new type of PVE content, replacing the adventure.
Dungeon Runs are completely free and they don’t require you to have any cards in your collection!!!!!!
If you successfully complete the Dungeon Runs with every class, you will get a special card back.

    More on Dungeon Runs

New type of PvE content that is likely to have the most replayability of any single player content added so far.
48 encounters in total, which is made up of a huge assortment of cards created just for this mode. They sounded like they could potentially add more in the future.
The way it works is you will progress through the dungeon’s 8 levels, fighting bosses that get progressively harder. You start out with 10 health and 15 cards. When you defeat a boss, you will have options to choose from several options like sets of 3 cards and other perks, like passive abilities. You continue on level by level, until you either die or complete all 8 levels. The last levels will be very challenging.  If you fail, you have to start all over again and lose all the cards and perks you obtained.
