    Subject: Awsome podcast! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I just started listening to your podcast this week.
I heard about your podcast from the cast royal brothers and since I played since year 2 of it’s release I recently got back on and am loving the new meta(Go Spell Hunter!). Although I am a hard core Shaman player and already got gold with him I’ve recently adopted the hunter and warrior as my own. I enjoy all the podcast and if I could leave a rating it would be 5 stars hands down! But I know you guys are always looking for constructive criticism so I guess the only thing I’ve noticed is that Vast is sometimes hard to hear and when he finishes a statement I can hear him take a deep breath through his nose and it has a subtle whistle. Besides that I love it! Also it would be cool to have a 1v1 and have you guys describe the game just a random idea I won’t feel bad if you don’t do it. Lastly I want to shout out my hearth buddy Josh (stardiver94) in game thanks for all you do and as always I’ll see you at the inn.

  • LOTI 181 : More WitchWood
    News

Starting March 26 @ 11:59pm PDT until April 9, 11:59 PDT, every time you complete a daily quest, you’ll also be rewarded a card pack. They will be from Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, Kobolds & Catacombs and even The Witchwood.  The Witchwood packs can be opened after it goes live. NOTE: The Play a Friend quest will be disabled during the event and back after. Be sure to use it before then.
The Enrage keyword is going away. They are cleaning up card text since it wasn’t used much. There are 9 cards with it on it. The Enrage quest will be removed too. (source)
We talked last week about the cards that work around the Odd and Even premise. This week Dean Ayala clarified some things about those cards. “There’s just the four that we revealed in the video plus the two legendaries. That’s the totality. We’re going to have a lot of Echo and Rush stuff too, which I think are interesting mechanics.”
The Witchwood schedule has been sent out.

There is a reveal livestream on March 26 @ 11am PDT on Twitch.
There will be 55 cards revealed over the next 2 weeks throughout the community.
Over on this page you will be able to see the reveals as they come out. (https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/21634713/the-witchwood-card-reveal-schedule)

    Subject: Episode Suggestions
Great episodes!  I’m also still listening to parts of the “back catalog”.
I fully agree that Dungeon Run is great, but I end up feeling conflicted.  I’d be “gaining” more if I was on the ladder, but I also really am having a ton of fun going after my second win in the Dungeon (losing and learning!).  I’ll be curious to see if the Monster Hunt lets you work towards more of the daily quests.
You mentioned that you were considering some more “newbie” content in the future so I thought I’d throw out some quick ideas.  I’ve already dug into some of these myself, but I think they might make good episodes.
    – Dust/Gold Management (when to hold em, when to spend em)
    – Twitch (I’d love to “just dive in”, but that didn’t go so well when I tried that with Reddit)
    – Learning from Reddit (The place scarier than the Witchwood!)
    – Archetypes (what’s in a “Big Spell Mage” compared to just a mage with fireballs?)
    – Art Appreciation (where to find the full art and learning more about the artists.  https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Full_art)
    – Deck and Stat tracking tools (mobile and desktop)
Please keep up the card reviews/discussions with Witchwood!

    New Expansion Announced: The Witchwood
    Reveal Video : https://youtu.be/4roAY-6Lrdk
    Cinematic Trailer : https://youtu.be/OtIbKXd5fWo

    Releases mid-April
    135 new cards
A new Shaman Hero Card: Hagatha, was shown at the end of the intro video. Ben Brode confirmed that this will be the only Hero card in the expansion. (source)
Every class will have 2 Legendary cards (source)
    New mechanic: Echo

Echo cards can be played multiple times on the turn you play them. Each time, it’ll add a ghostly copy of the card back to your hand that disappears at the end of your turn.
Cards with the same effect as Echo that are already in the game, will not be updated with the new keyword.
Deathstalker Rexxar will be updated to work with both Kobolds and Witchwood beasts when the set launches.

    New mechanic: Rush

Minions with the Rush keyword can attack other minions immediately after they hit the board, either by being played or summoned. They cannot attack heroes until the turn after they enter play.
If a Rush minion is played onto the board through a summon effect, the mechanic still works the same. (source)

The pre-order includes a new card back and 70 cards, instead of the usual 50. (pre-order here or in game)
    Freebies this expansion

A card back for completing Monster Hunt
A Legendary class card for logging in on release
3 card packs for logging in on release
Up to 4 card packs for completing daily quests leading up to the release (source)

    Monster Hunt

Similar to existing Dungeon Runs, however it uses 4 special Heroes for this mode that are exclusive to Monster Hunt: the Cannoneer, Houndmaster, Time Tinkerer, and Tracker. These heroes have unique hero powers and even some special cards.
Dungeon Run will remain available for play.

Cards that take advantage of odd or even costs on cards have been talked about the most so far. Although it was clarified that there are only a few of these cards in the expansion. For the record, 0 is an even number. New filters are going to be added allowing you to filter the collection to just even or odd cards. Shifting Scroll counts as a 0-cost card.
Baku the Mooneater only upgrades basic Hero Powers, the same ones that Justicar Trueheart does.  FYI, Baku will still trigger if Prince Malchezaar adds even cost cards to your deck. (source)

    Arena Updates
We’re trying out a new Arena format to make choosing cards more interesting and skill testing.

New Draft Rules: Each pick in an Arena draft will now feature 3 cards of relatively equal power level, but mixed rarities.
Picks 1, 10, 20, and 30 will continue to have a guaranteed Rare quality card or better.
The increased chance to draft cards from the most recent expansion has been removed until the launch of The Witchwood.
New Arena cards chosen at BlizzCon are being added to the Arena for a limited time.
All cards that are excluded from the Arena draft pool remain unchanged.
All the other existing Arena rules in place that affect appearance rates are unchanged.

  • LOTI 179 : Year of the Raven
    News

March’s changes start out with a bit of a speed bump. Ranked play rewards were incorrectly rewarding 5 stars per win, causing several players to have obtained Legend status in record time on the Asia servers. It was reported on Reddit and shortly after, Ranked play was locked as Blizzard investigated the issue.  They discovered the cause and implemented a hotfix, however still unsure if they will be able to reverse those affected. As a thank you for your patience, Blizzard rewarded 3 Kobolds and Catacombs packs today. You can get these through the Gifting function in the game. If you play on mobile, you have to go to your Battle.net account to redeem them (account.blizzard.com/gifts).
Blizzard confirmed that the rewards from the Quest event have been sent out two weeks ago. Did you get anything from the contest?
    Year of the Raven (source)

They were going to have a Q&A last Friday but postponed it until the issues with Ranked play were resolved.
Ben Brode updated us on all the upcoming changes and details about 2018 in Hearthstone.
Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan, and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan will rotate out when the first expansion goes live.
Ice Block, Coldlight Oracle, and Molten Giant are being added to the Hall of Fame set.
Molten Giant is going back to 20 mana!
You will receive free arcane dust for any cards you have that are moving to the Hall of Fame without needing to disenchant the cards.
Some Daily Quests are becoming easier to complete with reduced requirements.
Daily Quests that rewarded you with 40 gold will now reward 50 instead.
In-game Tournaments are coming to Hearthstone. Beta for tournaments to begin around the middle of the year.
Lunara is being added to the game as the first alternative Druid hero.  (win 10 games in standard or casual after the expansion to obtain)
Maiev will no longer be available to collect starting with the first new expansion of the year. If you already own her, she’s yours forever..

What do you think the images are hinting at for upcoming expansions?

    Starcraft’s 20th Anniversary

To celebrate Starcraft’s 20th, Blizzard is giving out rewards on each of their games. In Hearthstone, there will be a special Tavern Brawl near the end of the month that will reward 3 Kobolds packs for participating.
Brood War – 20th Anniversary UI skin for Remastered
StarCraft II – 20th Anniversary UI skins, Portraits, and Decal.
    Diablo III – Battlecruiser Pet
Overwatch – Widowmaker Skin featuring Sarah Kerrigan as the Ghost
World of Warcraft – Salute to StarCraft Feat of Strength if you /salute an in-game StarCraft pet.
Heroes of the Storm – 20th Anniversary StarCraft portraits

    Arena Changes are coming

The cards from BlizzCon are finally coming to Arena for a limited time (leaving with the new expansion)
Cards are offered based on their relatively equal power level not just by rarity.
Legendary cards still offered in sets of 3
Picks 1, 10, 20 and 30 will still contain cards that are Rare or better.
Temporarily disabling the increased chance to see cards from the most recent expansion.
Wording on the cards were changed a little but retain the same effects from Blizzcon and the Priest card was decreased from 3 to 2 mana.

Dave Kosak, Game Designer tweeted that he was going camping and searching for the next expansion. Ben Brode responded, “Have fun! Bring the expansion back soon! We’re supposed to announce it this month!”

    Rank floors (20, 15, 10 , 5) are still in place

    Nefarian Rises!
Join forces with a friend to take down Nefarian. Again. Anduin teams up with newcomer Morgl in this new cooperative Tavern Brawl!
    How it Works
You and another player will play as either Morgl the Shaman or Anduin the Priest.
Nefarian, a 200 health boss with taunt, will swap sides of the field so that you will attack him on your turn.
You and your friend need to work together to defeat Nefarian.
At the end of each player’s turn, Nefarian gets to cast a random spell from his collection.
When Nefarian hits 160 Health, he will cast Elemental Eruption and gain 5 Attack.
When Nefarian hits 60 Health, he will cast Twisted Light and gain another 5 Attack for a total of 10.
You cannot bypass any of Nefarian’s phases. If a 4 damage attack would take him from 162 health to 158, it only deals 2 damages putting him at 160 health.
If at any point your side has 7 minions on it, Nefarian will destroy them all since he can’t move into a slot.

    Hello chaps!
The suggestion from Team 5 is that we’re going to see some new cards heading to the Hall of Fame at the end of the current year.  With these cards moving out of classic Standard rotation, do you think there’s any value in adding cards to classic.
If they didn’t have new classic cards unlocked as part of the PVE rewards for future expansions, perhaps they could “promote” cards from existing expansions?
Do you think this is viable and if so, what cards would you like to see move from an expansion into the Classic pool?
    Regards,
    Giant
