Could a Co-Op Tavern brawl be in the works?

Data mining revealed this last week two interesting things that might lean towards this possibility.

A minion, Gearmaster Mechazod – 10 mana, 2 / 95 minion, BOSS – Mechazod wins if he defeats either of you!

Bomb Salvo – 0 mana, Deal Attack damage to up to 3 random targets.

Decimate – 1 mana, Change the Health of enemy minions to 1.

Double Zap – 0 mana, Deal Attack damage to both players.

Kill the Lorewalker – 0 mana, Destroy Lorewalker Cho.

Overclock – 0 mana, Gain 2 Attack.

Prioritize – 0 mana, Deal Attack damage to biggest minion

Espo Mode Who’s the Boss Now?

Dungeon bosses want to help you play! Build your own deck but get a random boss power. Each time you use it, you get a new one!

Constructed brawl

You chose the hero and construct a deck from your collection.

Hero powers are random;

Bone Minions: (BRM/Nefarian) Summon two 2/1 Bone Constructs

Wild Magic: (BRM/Lord Victor Nefarius) Put a random spell from your opponent’s class into your hand.

Activate!: (BRM/Omnotron Defense System) Activate a random Tron

The Majordomo: (BRM/Majordomo Executus) Summon a 3/3 Flamewaker Acolyte

Open the gates: (BRM/Rend Blackhand) Summon 3 1/1 Whelps.

Me Smash: (BRM/Highlord Omokk) Destroy a random enemy minion

Jeering Crowd: (BRM/High Justice Grimstone) Summon a 1/1 Spectator with taunt

Pile On!!!: (BRM/Corin Direbrew) Put a minion from each deck into the battlefield.

Web Wrap: (Naxx/Maexxna) Return a random enemy minion to your opponent’s hand.

Harvest: (Naxx/Gothic the Harvester) Draw a card.  Gain a mana crystal.

Decimate: (Naxx/Gluth) Change the health of enemy minions to 1.

Poison Cloud: (Naxx/Grobbulus) Deal 1 damage to all enemy minions. If any die, summon a slime.

Warrior TGT Cards

[Alexstrasza’s Champion]  – 2 mana, 2 / 3 minion, Battlecry: If you’re holding a Dragon, gain +1 Attack and Charge.

Works with Dragons. So obviously great for a Dragon Warrior deck, especially a fast deck.

Flavor Text – “Put more spikes on her. No, more spikes. What part of ‘more spikes’ do you not understand? MORE SPIKES!” – Alexstrasza

Great for removing threats like [Shielded Mini Bot] and other early threats.

By itself it’s just average. With a dragon in hand it’s amazing for the cost.

Recommendation: A huge recommendation for a Warrior Dragon deck.

[Bash]  – 3 mana, Deal 3 damage. Gain 3 Armor.

Compare this with the Warlock’s [Drain Life] (3 mana, Deal 2 damage. Restore 2 health to your hero.)  Clearly this is a better card.

Use this to get past a taunt and can be used to enable use of [Execute].

Warsong Commander is changing

Card text will now read, “Your charge minions have +1 Attack.”

Ben Brode discussed this on YouTube. Here were his main points (Ben Brode talking about Warsong Commander https://youtu.be/PprkXykU5xM )

Warriors are already pretty low on the Arena tier list, and this change does take them down further. This will have to be addressed in future sets.

Charge and Direct Damage are two of the least fun things in Hearthstone. You can’t react to them, you must be proactive.

They wanted to make the card less complicated because it is in the basic set.

Warsong Commander was nerfed instead of Grim Patron or Frothing Berserker because the biggest issue now, and going forward, was Warsong.

It was important to keep the identity of the card intact as much as possible.

They tried 30 or 40 different designs to see which ones felt the best for the card.

Dreadsteed was originally going to be released in Naxxramas as a Neutral Minion. Warsong Commander prevented that due to their interaction.

Ricemax – Great show with a unique dynamic

The hosts of Legend of the Innkeeper present an unusual dynamic for a podcast, but it works really well for the subject matter. I love the card overviews and the friendly banter. The class focuses are awesome. My only suggestion might be to explore giving each host their own solo segment of the show; while the 70-90 minute discussion format is good, at that duration it’s starting to get into a length that would benefit from being broken up a bit. Use d6 Generation as an example (granted, d6G is 3+ hours long, but…).

Espo Mode Double Deathrattler Battler

Another constructed Brawl using your own collection has me sad this week. I thought of Tavern Brawl as a way for new players to get another free pack during the week, but I’m afraid that this is becoming more of a hassle than it’s worth.  Myself, I like just about all of the brawls because I enjoy deck building and using crazy cards in the pre-made brawls.  But for the new player, these constructed brawls I feel are just too weighted in favor of the players with a larger collection.

Hints and Tips

Ever wonder what order multiple Deathrattles are resolved?  Well, it’s in the order in which they were put into play.  So, when that Flamestrike clears your board each effect will play out individually and resolve, before the next activates. Once all related effects have played out for the minion, the next simultaneous minion’s death will begin to resolve.

Hello!  I just wanted to say that I have loved the show so far.  I have been working my way through all 60 episodes of the Podcast, and am caught up to the middle of Blackrock Mountain, though I did skip ahead to listen to some of the Grand Tournament episodes, for obvious reasons.  Ariannwyn and I seem to have roughly the same luck when it comes to opening Legendaries (23 packs and counting, as I recall, in TGT with no legendaries for me).  That said, I feel like I did pretty well with my first ever Season chest, where level 11 got me 25 dust and two each golden Shielded Minibot and golden Healing Wave, class cards for the two classes I played on the last day of ladder.  I hope to see what a level 10 chest gets me next month!

1. DoA announced on the OGN HS Masters stream new exclusive card back

Not sure who DoA is, but they announced the other day that the attendees to a Hearthstone esports event in Busan, South Korea, would be receiving an exclusive currently unreleased card back in addition to 10 TGT card packs. 2. According to research firm SuperData, Hearthstone makes $20 million a month

In their recent report on Digital Collectable Card Games, SuperData has said that Hearthstone is now bringing in $20 million a month. 3. Blizzard trademarks ‘Compete’

Blizzard has just filed for a trademark on ‘Compete’, an online service that would help you “organize and promote” eSports tournaments and ladders. 6. Hearthstone is opening up an API for developers to use

Developers understand this more than us casual players, but it’s something that should be mentioned. Blizzard announced they are opening up an API connection that would allow developers to connect their application or website to a feed that will help them have more accurate data. We have another constructed deck Brawl this week.  Not very New Player friendly, but loads of fun.  Troggzor and his lesser costed brethren were a lot of fun in this.  Along with Lorewalker Cho and Loatheb to slow the game down a bit.

Last week we talked about the new card Astral Communion, which is a 4 mana card that reads “Gain 10 mana crystals. Discard your hand.” This week there was some additional clarification about the card when you already have 10 mana crystals. If you have 10 mana already, you will receive 1 excess mana when you play this card.
