The Arena

The interesting thing about Hearthstone is that there are really 2 different challenges that are included with the game. Actually you might even say three now that we have the adventure modes to play with too. You have Constructed (Ladder) and The Arena.

Most of the time, on this show we are talking about the Constructed side of the game. About fine crafting decks to help you get further and further up on the ladder, with the desire to eventually hit Legend.

However, there are many, many players out there that do nothing but play in the Arena and can’t stand Constructed. I really love the idea behind the Arena and I really enjoy it but I’m not very good at it. I will assume then that there are MANY other casual players that feel the same. And there are probably MANY more who don’t like the Arena at all.

In this discussion, it is our goal that you will leave here with a renewed excitement about trying the Arena again if you are in the first group or be willing to give it a second chance if you are in the latter. Either way, we want to show you how you can have FUN while playing in the Arena. Of course winning never hurts to increase your fun factor.

A dragon is a reptilian creature, usually winged, with magical or unusual abilities. Dragons were one of the first intelligent life forms to appear in Azeroth. It is not clear whether the titans created them or if they somehow evolved prior to the titans’ arrival. At one time, their numbers were uncountable, but in present-day Azeroth there are very few left. Originally, there were many different dragonflights, with many different colors to be seen. The five most influential, however, were the reds, the greens, the bronze, the blacks, and the blues, and eventually most (if not all) of the other flights disappeared.

Chosen by the titans, each of the five dragonflights were given domain over a certain aspect of the world, ranging from the earth to time itself. During the War of the Ancients, the dragonflights sought to fulfill their duty and strike against the invading Burning Legion. Over time, the dragons have endured much hardship and only a handful still remain, hostile to all that may tamper with the titans’ creations.

Mike Donais explains that the ‘holding’ mechanic has the potential to further explore a relatively new element in Hearthstone: bluffing.[2] Because the successful activation of a Blackwing Technician, Blackwing Corruptor or Rend Blackhand highlights the presence of a Dragon in the player’s hand, this can be used to play mind games with the opponent, who may alter their play in order to counter the Dragon assumed to be in the player’s hand. Donais states, “Bluffing is something I want to encourage more in our games.

Kinguin Pro League

Twenty of the best hearthstone players faced off against each other in the group stage of the Kinguin Pro League, however only six advance into the playoffs.

For round one in the playoffs, Lifecoach and Strifecro both received a bye and moved on to the semi-finals.  Firebat and Kolento will be playing against each other to advance, and Hyped and Sjow will be facing off in round one.

Blackrock Team Brawl

Team Archon is presenting a 3 day tournament “Blackrock Team Brawl” which will feature a unique 2vs2 format.

Our focus on this tournament is to create a cooperative experience between two players playing together against another pair. Playing with a friend has always been fun and we think that a cooperative format creates a new experience to see players playing against one another.

1. New Patch Live – Blackrock Mountain included

* Friends that are Away in Battle.net will no longer be displayed in your online friend count.

* We’ve nailed the game board to the table: Spells that create screen shaking effects should no longer get your screen stuck in a bad position.

* Warsong Commander will now give charge to minions summoned by other minions – charge forward!

* Bane of Doom can now summon any collectible demons. Doom . . . DOOM!

* Sylvanas Windrunner will no longer steal a minion that is about to die, which is weird because that’s generally her thing.

* Vol’jin will no longer destroy itself if the only other minion in play is stealthed.

* Minions that are spawned from a Deathrattle are now targetable sooner. This will affect the Slime from Sludge Belcher, as well as the spawns from Harvest Golem, Piloted Shredder and Piloted Sky Golem.

* General bug fixes and UI improvements.

* Dragon mechanic – adding dragon’s to your hand without having to load up on dragons

* Playing against a control warrior? Copy Ragnaros or Dr Boom

* Playing against a Handlock or anyone else carrying a bunch of dragons? Copy your BGH

* Emperor Thaurissan. Play him, copy him, prep sprint. Next turn Play him again and again.

Gang Up is basically “You’re now running 3 more copies of the best minion you have against the matchup you are currently facing”
