It's not uncommon for a token strategy to make you feel like you just invested in BitConnect. All the promises of riches get blown away with those pesky board wipes every opponent seems to have. Join us this week as Kyle and Andy explore the commander deck theme of tokens, and dive into how to make sure tokens deliver on the promised riches. You'll be swimming in cat tokens like Jordan Jordan Belfort before you know it. Stay tuned to the end, where Kyle illustrates good token principles with his bizarre Tana, Bloodsower and Vial Smasher the Fierce deck. Get your blankie and a warm glass of milk and settle into a comfy spot. AP is here to tell us a story. Friend of the podcast, AP, joins Andy and Kyle to talk about Magic: the Gathering lore. He sets the stage for what's currently happening in the story as we head into War of the Spark. The boys also take an overall look at how Mt:G stories have been developed and delivered in the past and opine on how well the story resonates with them. They also speculate on some basic story parameters they think or hope to see as the planeswalkers prepare to collide on Ravnica. Get some real magic experiences—or watch us screw up games. So you've sleeved up your decks and you're ready for commander night. Or are you? The deck is only part of the experience. What do you and your friends do to make sure everyone has a good experience at the commander table? We've all got those decks that needle at our minds. We build them and play them and love the idea of them. But some of those decks don't perform, despite channeling our inner Niv-Mizzet and concocting the best build we can conceive for our beloved pet commanders. What happens when that pet deck isn't going the distance? Join us as Andy explores some of his pet decks over the past year and how one, in particular, has its tendrils deep in his mind. Is it 'fuh-jee-tas' or 'fudge-eye-tas'? It's gotta be the former. The latter is way too close to… well… you know. How else could you possibly say 'fajitas' without sounding like a pervert? We've heard you—or maybe we haven't—and we get it: we mispronounce all your favorite legendary creatures. So Andy and Kyle sit down with the Legendary Creature Linguistics Team to figure out how to say a bunch of magic cards. We promise that you won't learn anything this episode, but you will get angry at our ignorance. Get some real magic experiences—or watch us screw up games too. What better guild to slow everything down than Azorius? Let's make everyone lobby and do paperwork before they can play EDH. It's a beautiful puzzle to behold. Not quite like a hand-made rug, but more like ENRON's code of ethics. Join Kyle, Andy and special guest, Austin from CMDR Ninety Nine, as we close out the guild series with a rousing discussion of what Azorius is up to in the Commander realm. Austin takes us on a tour de force of his build for Lavinia, Azorius Renegade. Andy then explores the idea of the Persistent Petitioners taking up their, well, persistent petitions with Grand Arbiter Augustin IV as the CEO of their lobbying firm. And stay until the end to see if Andy has a curveball for the Petitioners. Check out Austin's Lavinia deck right here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/03-02-19-lavinia-azorius-renegade/ Also, be sure to subscribe to CMDR Ninety Nine's channel for gameplay and more deck techs: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxu0u3xoMijHNxO4cAa5VoQ/videos Be sure to watch our gameplay videos on YouTube, and feel free to join the podcast conversation there. Let's get some nice strong trees and look to our sturdy mountains, it's time to channel our inner Gruul and paint a happy little Stomping Ground. Join us as Kyle and Andy explore the commander offerings Gruul has to offer. Kyle takes a close look at Nikya of the Old Ways and discovers some interesting paths to take when you only use creatures to sate an non-creature averse commander. Andy then swings the opposite way to see what strange twin action Wort, the Raidmother has on her browser history. Are you here for the Showstopper? I think we saw that a$$hole wasting his time flipping coins on the Transguild Promenade. Judith? Maybe. But, really we're the only divas here. Join Andy and Kyle as they take the guild series to the Blood Crypts in search of Rakdos commanders steeped in enough gory glory to entertain us all. What does the Cult of Rakdos have to offer? As we journey toward Rix Maadi, our hipster hosts take a quick look at Judith. Andy then courts the potentially misunderstood Olivia and seeks to give her his bloody heart. Kyle then seeks to tweak his Scorpion God deck. Can he give an offering worthy of the deadly divine? Whether it's that vindaloo you ate last night or Orzhov, both are coming back to torture you. Join us as we dive into the untold riches the Orzhov Syndicate has to offer. Fine Print: Just know that by listening to this episode you are signing your everlasting soul over to Kyle and Andy. We'll explore the guild and what it has going on in its identity. Kyle will then take us through a bit of a bifurcated deck tech intended to enable him to put either Teysa Karlov or Krav & Regna at the helm. Also don't miss his alternative route he proposes for Teysa that will get real funky. Andy then brings Selenia, Dark Angel's wares to the table. Your fellow opponents may want to avoid the kombucha she's offering at the farmer's market this weekend. Check out Kyle's Teysa Karlov decklist right here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/kyles-teysa-or-kravregna-switch-commanders-deck/ And check out Andy's Selenis, Dark Angel decklist here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/andys-seleniacide-snot-cool/ The dank beats this episode are by the immortal Dan Terminus. What is it about Simic? It's just so easy for blue and green to combine forces and realize their plans. It's almost as if they're fueled by extra body parts, virile with the force of a Gentleman Bronco. Well, we're diving back into the guilds as Ravnica Allegiance rolls out. This week we're exploring the identity of Simic. And unlike the Simic with their extra appendages, Andy tries to build around Vanifar with one arm behind his back. Did he find a good 75% place to land with the so-called Birthing Pod-mander? Kyle then wraps up the episode by trying to wrest Arixmethes from watery slumber. Hope he chewed done on enough gillyweed.
